MILESTONE

One of the giants of the North American timber industry has died at age 96. James K. Irving was the last of his generation. Along with his brothers Arthur and Jack, the three sons of K.C. and Harriet Irving increased the holdings of Irving Woodlands to a total of 3.2 million acres of deeded acreage in Canada and the US. Irving Woodlands also manages 2.6 million acres of leased Crown land in New Brunswick. The Irvings currently rank sixth on the Land Report 100.
