We hope our June issue of E-Grapevine finds you well! Summer is here which means, bikers, hikers, runners, dog walkers and lots of kids at play outside. Please be safe on the roads, trails and parks and watch out for each other.
Our Concord Trustees have been busy with opportunities to improve our township. Trustee, Amy Lucci recently travelled to Washington DC to represent the Ohio Township Association (OTA) and Concord Township for the National Association of Towns and Townships (NATaT) where she met with legislators to discuss policy relevant to Townships.
Meanwhile, Trustee McIntosh attended the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) convention to meet with developers, brokers, and retailers for business development purposes. Meetings were targeted to ensure prospects were a good fit for Concord.
The Concord Summer Concert Series kicks off on June 6th. We are looking forward to seeing everyone at the gazebo!
Happy Father’s Day to all the wonderful dads and congratulations to all of our new graduates.

From the Chief’s Desk
Dear Residents,

Over the past couple of weeks, Concord Township Fire Department has had the opportunity to host several high school seniors from both Mentor and Riverside who completed their Senior Projects with us.
Grace and Avery are both from Riverside High School and completed a mural in the new fire station. We want to recognize their outstanding efforts and talents. Their hard work and dedication have gifted our department with a beautiful mural that truly captures the spirit and dedication of our firefighters to the community. This mural is a testament to their commitment and creativity and will be a source of pride of our department for years to come. Thank you, Grace and Avery, for your invaluable contribution to our community!
| | Bob Ivancic Jr. (pictured 3rd from right) will be graduating from Mentor High School this year where he played Lacrosse and completed his Senior Project with us. Bob is currently working on completing his Ohio EMT-Basic Certification through the Mentor Fire EMT Academy and will be taking his National Registry Exam on May 29. We wish him the best of luck. He is scheduled to begin the Fire Academy at Auburn Career Center in August. He looks forward to following in his dad’s footsteps who is a current member of Concord Township Fire Department. | |
Caden Skulski (pictured 2nd from left) is also graduating from Mentor High School and chose Concord Township Fire Department for his Senior Project. Caden will be heading to the University of Miami Ohio to pursue a degree in Exercise Physiology. Upon completion of his degree, he plans to return to complete the fire academy and paramedic certifications.
Leah Davis is graduating from Riverside and is in the process of completing her Ohio EMT-Basic Certification and will be starting Fire Academy this fall both at Auburn Career Center. After Fire Academy she plans to continue her education in the Paramedic Program. Leah enjoys family time and playing volleyball. She is looking forward to a career in the fire service and we know she is going to do very well as a firefighter.
On behalf of the entire Concord Township Fire Department staff, I want to take this opportunity to congratulate all our resident graduates from Mentor, Riverside, and Chardon Schools!
Sincerely,
Matt Sabo, Fire Chief

The summer construction season is here for the Service Department. Our crews are out making several road repairs and enhancements. Concrete slab replacements, Dura-patch repairs and crack sealing. We appreciate our resident’s patience who are affected during these repairs and maintenance operations. We remind motorists to slow down and move over when approaching work zones and vehicles with flashing lights in the roadway. The Service Department is dedicated to providing safe and well-maintained roads throughout Concord Township.
The 2024 Joint Road Resurfacing project is set to begin early June. Viewmont Dr, Page Dr, and Winchell Rd are included in the resurfacing project. Viewmont Dr. and Page Dr. will receive asphalt milling with depth repairs, intermediate asphalt base and asphalt surface course. Winchell Rd. will receive 3 culvert replacements which will require closure of the roadway for up to 60 days. Once the Culverts are replaced, milling of the roadway and resurfacing will take place. Detour routes will be in place during construction. Residents affected by the closure should allow more time for travel.
The Service Departments Yard Waste drop off will close on June 3rd and will reopen on September 3rd. Residents looking for a place to take their yard waste can take it to MRLM in Mentor for a small fee. The Service Department closes the drop off for the summer months due to not having the ability to maintain the operations of the drop off during the summer construction season when crews are busy with road repairs and improvements. The Fall Brush Days Collection is set for Saturday’s October 5th and 19th from 7:30am – 2:30pm. Residents may drop off brush no larger than 4” in diameter. No lumber, landscape timbers, railroad ties, or tree stumps are permitted. Yard Waste drop off will also be open on these dates.
Other services provided by the Service Department are the Snow Barricade program and Culvert replacement program. Information for these can be found on the concord website under forms and applications.

The Service department reminds residents with questions or concerns to contact us at 440-350-3225 or by email at concordtwp.com/service. The Service Department hopes all residents have a safe and healthy summer.

The Concord Township Zoning Office receives many complaints regarding properties within the Township, specifically residential properties. Complaints about potential residential violations or nuisances can many times be easily resolved without zoning violation notices.
The most frequent residential zoning violations involve high grass and noxious weeds; the storage of junk and debris in an exposed manner; junk motor vehicles; commercial and recreational vehicles; and the lack of basic maintenance on dwellings, garages, sheds and fences.
So what can you do to be a good neighbor? Help maintain the integrity of your neighborhood by keeping the following in mind:
- Park your vehicles on driveways and parking areas that are improved with gravel, asphalt, concrete, brick or other similar type material.
- Do not park commercial vehicles in excess of 10,000 lbs. on your property, or more than two commercial vehicles or trailers used on a regular basis by the resident for the resident’s occupation.
- Only one boat, camper or trailer may be stored outdoors on lots comprising of less than one acre.
- Vehicles and recreational equipment for sale shall be limited to two items per calendar year and only one vehicle shall be offered at any given time. This vehicle must be displayed in the driveway or other paved surface and shall be titled to the occupant.
- Do not park wrecked, dismantled and apparently inoperable vehicles that are three model years or older on your property for more than 30 days, unless stored within a garage.
- Maintain the exterior walls, windows, doors, roofs, gutters and downspouts of your home, garages and sheds.
- Keep your exterior property clean of junk and debris.
- For the benefit of police and fire safety services, clearly identify and mark your house number on the front of your home.
- Respect your neighbors by not placing your trash, garbage and other debris at the curb for pick-up too early.
- Show your neighbors courtesy 24 hours a day concerning noise.
- Mow your grass on a weekly basis.
Thanks for being a good neighbor from the Concord Township Zoning Department!
