Multi-Service Center Hosts Annual Dinner and Auction | | |
Mayor Jim Ferrell joined members of the City Council at the Multi-Service Center’s (MSC) 25th Annual Spring into Action Dinner and Auction on Saturday. The event celebrated MSC’s longstanding impact in the Federal Way community and gave attendees a firsthand look at how their support helps strengthen lives and create lasting positive change.
Proceeds from the event directly support MSC’s essential programs and services, including food assistance, housing support, and energy assistance for individuals and families throughout South King County. MSC remains an invaluable community partner, helping ensure that Federal Way continues to be a strong, connected, and compassionate place to live.
| | Mayor Ferrell Leads Oath of Office for Two FWPD Promotions | | |
At the Federal Way City Council meeting on June 2, two Federal Way Police Department (FWPD) officers received promotions and took the oath of office, administered by Mayor Jim Ferrell.
Lieutenant Jeffery Mundell was promoted to Commander. Mundell has proudly served the FWPD for nearly 19 years, beginning his law enforcement career here in 2007. Over the years, he has demonstrated consistent growth and excellence. In 2017, he was appointed Corporal and served for 5 years in leadership roles within both the Traffic Unit and the Patrol Division.
Officer Eric Clark was promoted to the rank of Corporal. Clark has served as a police officer for more than 6 years and joined the FWPD as a lateral officer, bringing valuable experience and a strong commitment to the profession. Since his arrival, he has consistently demonstrated dedication to personal development and earned a reputation as a proactive problem solver.

Mayor Jim Ferrell attended "Make A Splash," a water show hosted by the Pacific Waves Synchronized Swim Club on Saturday. It was held at the Federal Way Community Center. It was an opportunity to see the talent and skill of artistic swimmers as they showcased their award-winning routines.
Pacific Waves Synchronized Swim Club is a non-profit club that engages in promoting, teaching, and fostering the sport of artistic (synchronized) swimming. You can learn more on the club's website.
| | Community Comes Together to Clean Up Federal Way | | |
Federal Way community members came together on Saturday for a Community Clean-up of the BPA Trail. Volunteers of all ages worked side by side to pick up litter, beautify the trail, and strengthen community connections while promoting environmental stewardship.

Last week, Mayor Jim Ferrell and the City Council presented two proclamations at the regular City Council meeting.
Councilmember Melissa Hamilton presented a proclamation recognizing June as Pride Month to Lakehaven Commissioner Juan Juarez Ramos.
Councilmember Martin Moore presented a proclamation recognizing Gun Violence Awareness Month to community member Betty Taylor.

Mayor Jim Ferrell and members of the City Council attended the Greater Federal Way Chamber of Commerce luncheon last week. Multi-Service Center (MSC) CEO Kirsten York and COO Amanda Santo joined the event for a conversation about the services MSC offers and the impact it makes on the community.
They also discussed their plans around the Transit Oriented Development projects they are leading around the new Downtown Federal Way Light Rail Station. MSC is one of the great organizations in Federal Way. Their incredible work helps ensure our community members, no matter their situation, have a chance to thrive.
