Expansion Update
Construction has officially started at the front of our facility!

Over the coming months over 2,550 square feet will be added to the front of our Adoption Center! The front lobby will be renovated and we will be adding pet feature rooms, a multipurpose classroom, and new offices for staff members!
During that time our front entrance/exit will be closed at all times. The side entrance/exit will be utilized for all guests, volunteers, and staff.

Make sure to visit our Expansion Updates website to see weekly progress updates on our expansion. There are great photos and videos of the exciting things happening right now at Heritage Humane Society.
Dog Foster Open House
Join us on June 16 for a Dog Foster Open House!

This is for anyone interested in learning more about our dog foster program and what is involved in fostering! We are currently under construction at Heritage Humane Society. Our Expansion Project is in full swing and we want to get as many dogs as possible into quieter environments. If you have been interested in fostering but wanted to learn more first, you should sign up!

Liz Moore Pet Portrait Fundraiser
JUNE 26 from 12pm - 4pm
Join us on June 26 for a Pet Portrait Fundraiser! Liz Moore & Associates will be hosting the event at Heritage Humane Society! All pets are welcome! Minimum donation of $25 per pet. There will also be fabulous raffle prizes! All proceeds benefit the HHS Expansion Project.
4th of July Hot Dog
Eating Contest
Summer is almost here and that means our annual 4th of July Hot Dog Eating Contest is coming up! Join us at Billsburg Brewery on Sunday, July 4 at 2 pm!

Hungry Pug Food Truck will be providing the hot dogs and for $10 you can sign up to participate in the contest! There will be music, raffles, prizes, adoptable dogs from HHS, and MORE! Click on the link below to learn more about the event.
Dog Walkers!
Important note for our dog walkers:

We are currently under construction at the shelter. Please note that the area we walk dogs outside will vary based on where they are doing construction that day. Please check in with the staff when you arrive at the shelter for a shift.

Make Par for Pets Golf Classic
Early-Bird Registration Open!
Join us on Friday, September 17 for a day of spectacular golf, delicious food including a boxed lunch and a dinner buffet, cold beer, contest holes, and camaraderie at Williamsburg National Golf Club.

Early-bird registration ends on August 1. Spots are limited, so make sure to sign up now!
Looking for Temporary Storage During Construction!
We are looking for help during construction! We have some small furniture pieces that need to be stored during our Expansion Project.

HHS will be CLOSED JUNE 21 - JUNE 24
Heritage Humane Society will be CLOSED for adoption appointments from June 21 - June 24 to allow us to pack up our front lobby area. This area will be under construction this summer as a part of our Expansion Project.

Moving Help Needed!
JUNE 21 & JUNE 22
We are looking for able-bodied volunteers to help move items and furniture out of our front lobby on June 21 and June 22. If you are able to help, please email [email protected] for more details.

If you have a truck or SUV to help relocate the large items to our annex, let us know in the email! All assistance will be documented and count towards your volunteer hours.
PetSmart Adoption Center Update
We are excited to announce that we will be moving adoptable cats back to the PetSmart Adoption Center on Monticello Ave. later this month.

Ace Hardware
Round-Up Fundraiser
For the entire month of June, Ace Hardware Williamsburg is doing a round-up fundraiser to benefit the Heritage Humane Society Expansion Project! 

Simply shop at Ace Hardware and at check-out make sure to ROUND UP to support the Heritage Humane Society Expansion Project.

They have two Williamsburg locations. Both are doing the round-up for us! The stores are on Monticello Ave. and on John Tyler Hwy.

2nd Saturdays at Nautical Dog
JUNE 12 from 11am - 1pm
Join us on Saturday, June 12 from 11 am - 1 pm for the 2nd Saturday's at Nautical Dog event!

There will be adoptable dogs from HHS there. If you purchase a bag of Zignature pet food tomorrow, Nautical Dog will very kindly donate a bag to our shelter! Come out, meet a cute pup, do some shopping, and support your local shelter and a great local business!

Tails on the Trail
