From the Editor's Desk
In this edition of our monthly e-newsletter, we discuss Nebraskas decision to implement legislation banning employers from asking job applicants about previous criminal activity on job applications. In a movement now known as Ban the Box, applicants will no longer have to disclose previous criminal activity until their potential employer has determined that the applicant has met the minimum job requirements.
Our legal alert covers Republicans on a House Education and Workforce subcommittee criticized the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) for the EEOCs relentless attack on employers they feel are using background checks to discriminate against job applicants.
Finally, our tip of the month addresses the question so many employers have: what are the legal ramifications or restrictions for conducting background checks?
Please forward our e-newsletter to friends and colleagues who may benefit from our published information.
Sincerely,
Cody Farzad,
Vice President/Editor
