Celebrating Concord Graduates! Operation GRAD Cap:   Congratulations High School and College Graduates! In honor of your significant accomplishment, we invite you to decorate your Graduation Cap and send a picture to Recreation@concordtwp.com . We will showcase your cap on our website and social media platforms! Scholarship Opportunity:   Each year, the Recreation Department facilitates scholarship awards in the amount of $1,000 each, as part of the Concord Community Day celebration. Although COVID-19 interfered with the large celebratory gathering, we can still offer some traditional components. This year, three (3) scholarship awards are available to graduating high school seniors who reside in Concord Township. These scholarships are made possible by the generosity of Lake Health and University Hospitals.  Details for both can be found at https://concordtwp.com/departments/recreation/ .

Citizen of the Year: Nominate someone to be this year’s “Citizen of the Year”! Each year, Concord Township recognizes one person who exemplifies dedication to community and the betterment of our township. Do you know of someone worthy of this prestigious honor? Tell us about them! Celebrating Concord Kids! Kid’s Coloring Contest:   Calling all Concord Kids! Channel your inner artist and draw your best “Send-A-Hug” picture or “Concord Tough” picture. Have someone take a picture of your masterpiece and send it to Recreation@concordtwp.com . We will forward your artwork to brighten the day of a local senior citizen or healthcare/safety worker. You might see it on our website! Silly Walking:   Enjoy this beautiful weather and get a little silly! Head to the Old Stone School at 7125 Ravenna Road, and take the Silly Walk path leading to the Greenway Corridor. Take a picture of your Silly Walking and send it to Recreation@concordtwp.com and see yourself on your website!

Celebrate Concord! The Concord Township Recreation Department continues to plan for our special Bicentennial Year, coming up in 2022. If you have any old pictures of life in Concord, please consider sharing them with us for possible inclusion in the book. We are also accepting artifacts and other historic documents like books, report cards, bills of sale, and more! Contact the Recreation Department for more information at 440-639-4650.

Fire Department

Concord Twp Fire Inspectors Doug and Brien have continued to assist our community throughout the COVID 19 pandemic and are available to you during the restarting of Concord Township. During the initial shutdown our Inspectors assisted businesses with closure, making check lists of fire safety needs. They maintained contacts with business owners and managers and worked with state and local authorities on new construction and required re-inspections. They collaborated with Principal Tim St. Clair of Parkview Elementary in the development of a digital fire prevention “Blizzard Bag” as a substitute for the April Fire Education programs that were cancelled. Doug and Brien assembled countless birthday bags for the “drive by birthdays” which the fire duty crews have been providing.

In late April, our inspectors began fielding calls from businesses calculating occupancy load in preparation of official re-openings. Service Department

The Service Department would like to remind residents that the construction season is in full swing. There are many construction projects going on within the Township and delays are to be expected. We appreciate your patience during the time while improvements take place. We ask that motorists slow down and move over when traveling through construction zones.  The Yard Waste Dumpster is still available for residents to drop off their yard waste items in paper biodegradable bags (no plastic). The dump site is open from 7:30am-2:30pm Monday thru Friday. Residents are asked to place yard waste into the dumpster provided. Residents with questions or concerns may contact the Service Department at 440-350-3225 or www.concordtwp.com.

Concord Township Cemetery

Decorations Please understand that if you are placing sentimental items on the graves, they may get lost, stolen or damaged; if it’s something that’s near and dear to your heart, we do not recommend that it be placed in the cemetery. One (1) steel rod hanger (shepherd’s hook) is permitted per monument; hangers shall be placed at the side of the monument; all hangers should have a visible decoration on the hook at all times for the safety of those walking by the hanger. All artificial decorations have been removed and placed along a fence in the Service Department. Please remember one artificial decoration per gravesite is allowed between November 15th – March 31st. Plantings No planting will be allowed in the 2004 in-ground cremation section; no trees shall be planted in the 2004 section. All trees and shrubbery, type and location, must be approved by the Cemetery Sexton; in-ground plantings will not be allowed until the monument is placed and it shall not encroach on the neighboring grave.  The cemetery staff reserves the right to remove any live decorations and non-floral decorations not in keeping with the beautification of the cemetery. Prohibited Items Glass of any kind (including gazing balls), styrofoam, birdhouses and feeders are prohibited. For more specific details, the Rules and Regulations are available at the entrance of the cemetery, online at the Township's website , and in Town Hall.
