www.doge.gov--The U.S. Cabinet had a VERY enlightening meeting on April 30, 2025 and let the press in with cameras. Scott Turner is our new HUD director and said he has ended access to subsidized housing for illegals. Something like nine million families have HUD funding, they are looking to build more affordable housing on Federal lands. Women's shelters have ended access to anatomical men dressed like women.
RFKJ spoke too, is well on his way to getting dyes out of our food chain which are petroleum-based, and made a great joke about how Fruit Loops (full of these dyes) somehow got to the top of the nutrition pyramid in schools.
Marco Rubio (Sec of State) later made a comment about how RFKJ has him afraid to eat anything, "but Tootsie Rolls are ok".... got a big laugh. (Rubio is very intelligent and has a lethal wit!)
Lori Chavez-Deremer spoke up as Labor Secretary, and had good things to say about the American Workforce, she’s dropping unemployment benefits to illegals. The Secretary of Education says that Title VI and Title IX are both going through reboots.
Musk and his DOGE team did an interview on Watter's World (FNC) on May 1, it’s worth looking up on YouTube replay. Very enlightening as to the depth of fraud and theft that is going on in our government, and how long-term plans can be formulated to keep it from coming back. The largesse has ended, but given more neglect like past decades, and it will ooze back.
Musk for the most part says DOGE is working WITH the agencies they are trying to "trim back" so they are not doing the "hack and slash" as promised.

Department of Government Efficiency (April 10) @DOGE: Under the Biden administration, it was routine for Border Patrol to admit aliens into the United States with no legal status and minimal screening. So far, CBP identified a subset of 6.3k individuals paroled into the United States since 2023 on the FBI's Terrorist Screening. The Trump admin is revoking the parole of these 6,300 immigrants, a senior White House official told @DailyCaller. Many identified were receiving Medicaid.

Well I don't know about you my fellow Republican, but I'm bi-racial, pretty honest, and love the environment. My daddy raised me to be respectful, and "fairness" is a matter of perspective (or mis-placed passive aggressiveness.) As we Okies put it, "depends on who's ox is being gored!" Civil liberties are guaranteed to us ALL under the Constitution. Much of the Dem message is either manufactured crisis, or just plain name-calling. That's sad.

At the Nance townhall on May 3, Dems in attendance protested the “cutting back of social security and Medicaid” which is apparently utter fantasy. Several complained of drug access being defunded, as well as Medicaid for homeless (including mental health). Trump has been interviewed on FNC several times, and has EXPLICITLY stated that he has no intention of touching Social Security, Medicaid or Medicare. (Other than to eliminate fraud and theft.) This is pure propaganda, and we must spread FACTS about it. More fear tactics. Aren’t they done YET?
HOWEVER, Trump has taken on Big Pharma and is now issuing EOs to drop the price of medications. The people complaining at Town Hall are now happy we hope!

State Representative for the 35th, Dan Griffey (minority whip) spoke passionately on May 5 @ our meeting, talked about a 105 day session with all the bills legislature trying to pass. 4% gas take increase, 6% for diesel. Lots of fees and taxes going up mid-June and many will be in for an unpleasant shock.
Rep. Griffey said something about a Democratic woman pulling the victim card: "You have no respect for me because I'm a lesbian!" .... When are ALL of us going to get the picture that this is a real problem in modern society??? You can't just "pull the victim card" and expect to be rewarded. We all have our lifestyles and mature people all respect each other, but when you claim victimhood, OTHERS are being emotionally bullied! It's narcissistic, and associated with dysfunctional mind sets; it's "passive aggressive" and really damages relationships, familial and professional. Do NOT give people who pull the "victim card" one inch of advantage. It's holding us ALL back from true progress.

I picked this up recently from a bit of SPAM which came to my inbox: Last Thursday, the President signed an executive order designed to defund PBS and NPR.
The letter went on to outline how horrible it was to be defunded, and THEN took the opportunity to beg for more donations from the public so they could stay alive and afloat. Apparently in recent years, NPR and KQED/PBS have slacked off on their membership drives (I very rarely watch them anymore, they don't stream on my feed) and have bellied up to the political trough to exist. Long letter.
NPR is notorious for their support of liberal issues, and the left wing. I see nothing wrong with the Fed cutting off grants and funding, because it contributes to the propaganda machine run by a biased political body. It's not fair and balanced, and bad journalism.
Another quote: This is one of the most blatant attacks on independent public media we’ve ever seen... KQED relies on a healthy local-national partnership to ensure you have access to inspiring and important programs. [Yep, so long as it's important to the left wing.]
The 1st Amendment does NOT in any way insure any media source will be entitled to funding from the pockets of the American taxpayer. Hopefully NPR/PBS will soon remember their original charter, that is, public broadcasting funded by private donations. They can hustle their own funds like every other media outlet does, THEN pursue free speech, as per the 1st Amendment.

Education: Randy Weingartner (National head of teacher’s union) was on FNC with Martha McCallum on April 22; Randy said little concerning plummeting math scores in America, but kept going back to the hot topic of LGBTQ children's books being read in elementary school rooms by activist teachers. Ms. Weingartner justified this behavior by saying something to the effect of "we need to validate children from all different cultures and lifestyles" (Does this mean we can now read The Littlest Angel, and Herschel and the Hanukkah Goblins in December, to school children?)
SCOTUS is also tackling whether parents have the right to request their children opt out of controversial lessons regarding alternate lifestyles based on gender dysphoria. (Sounds like our HB 1296: we are not the only state dealing with this.)

21st Century education philosophy states that the teacher, the parent and the student are a TEAM and there should be no day-light between, in how they educate the student. This seems to be the antithesis of many bills currently in committee in Olympia. A listing of these bills which threaten the education system as we know it: HB 1296, SHB 1390, ESSB 5181, E2S GB 1232, HB 2012, SB 5786, SB 1858, 2SSB 5179. HB 1296 especially seems to throw a serious barrier between parent and curriculum. This is over-reach by the state, and pure Marxism, designed to fracture the family.

A teacher from Bremerton writes this: I was recently in a classroom, a very well behaved 5th grade class, I didn't know the kids, but I asked them casually how many of them enjoyed doing their math on their Chromebooks. A few seemed to like it, but the vast majority were very much against it, I was shocked. Two days later I heard on news radio that students (somewhere in the country) have figured out how to destroy their Chromebooks by putting a piece of metal into the USB ports on the side, and jiggling it around until they short out and catch fire.
Combined with the fact that a drop in math scores in Kitsap county started in 2015, when teaching math began to lean heavily on "Chromebook based learning" ... off-hand I'd say there was a problem here of some kind. Maybe this is the new "calculator" boondoggle: a decade ago, every elementary classroom had a set of calculators for those struggling with basic math. Then those went away. Maybe it would be better... and cheaper.... to go back to paper and pencil.
