Since 1974, National Catholic Schools Week has been the annual celebration of Catholic education in the United States. It starts the last Sunday in January and runs all week, which in 2024 is January 28 – February 3. Re-Enrollment Update:

Dear BSS Families,

By now, all of our current families who usually do not apply for a scholarship have received a re-enrollment contract for the 2024-2025 school year. Our admissions office is currently working on sending out contracts for returning families who receive the NC Opportunity Scholarship. Late last year, the NC General Assembly expanded the NC Opportunity Scholarship, and now every family in NC (including all of our BSS families) can apply for a scholarship based on their income guidelines. If your family will apply for the scholarship for the first time, please let Mr. Rico know by mid-April once an award is offered and then accepted by the family and he will adjust your child's tuition rate accordingly. Do not delay in signing your contracts by your deadline and paying for the 2024-2025 enrollment fee as we are expecting an increase in new families seeking enrollment in our school (Even if your family will apply for the scholarship). The 12-week session with final class parent performance starts January 24! Wednesdays from 3:15-4:00 pm

Our preschool and elementary ballet program includes games, props, and a

little imagination, to keep our little dancers on their toes while they learn basic

PE Footwear

Dear BSS Families:

As I have reminded all the middle school students, in order to participate in PE activities, students must have appropriate footwear. Sneakers (if you are from the north), and tennis shoes (if you are from the south) are required for PE class. Hey Dudes, as an example of shoes I continually see on PE days, are not supportive and safe for physical activity. Please remind your children to wear appropriate PE sneakers on PE days. We run, we jump, we move - A LOT! Long ago I requested special permission for PE days to allow any color sneaker that is supportive for athletic wear and tear, just for this purpose. If a student is not wearing appropriate PE shoes, he/she will not participate in class PE activiites, but will be doing a lot of push ups/sit ups or any variety of exercises I can come up with that will not require athletic footwear.

4th Grade Bees - Landform Project

Last Wednesday, January 17th in the afternoon, Mrs. Ortiz's Fourth Grade Bees presented their Landform projects to Mrs. Gomez. They were required to do research and become experts on their chosen landform. Once they were experts, students then created a diorama to share their knowledge. See if you can identify any of the famous landforms! One is the tallest mountain in the world! Another is a famous tourist destination in Arizona! We are very proud of their hard work! 💙💛

1st-grade at the Smartlab

Mrs. Byerly's first-grade students worked this week at the SmartLab with their Geometric Shakes kits. They focused on the Reflect and Share steps of the project cycle. Check out their creations!

Competition Cheer 2023-24

UPDATE 01/07/2024:

Dear Cheer Parents,

       Shamrock is rapidly approaching, and the girls are working very hard to be ready. We have experienced some challenges this year with our practice schedule and injuries. Starting tomorrow Monday, January 8, we are going to extend practice by 30 minutes, so we will be in the gym from 3:30-5:00.  We are hoping that doing this will keep us from having to have extra practices. We understand that this might not be convenient for everyone, but this is, unfortunately, necessary for the girls to be ready to compete. We are going to be flexible as we know this is coming to you with short notice, but PLEASE, if at all possible, we need your cheerleader to be at practice. At this point, it truly impacts the whole team when one person is missing. If this is simply not an option for you, please let us know.

Additionally, there is an opportunity for the cheerleaders to compete in the Scott Cheer Classic on Feb 24  at 1:00 at IHM (Immaculate Heart Of Mary Catholic School-4145 JOHNSON ST HIGH POINT, NC 27265)

Please let us know ASAP if your cheerleader is available on that date and able to come to the competition by clicking HERE and filling out a short Google form.

Dear Parents,

The admissions office is in the process of preparing to send out re-enrollment contracts for the following school year to our returning students/families. There will be an increase in tuition rates for the 2024-2025 school year. Please, review a letter from Mrs. Gomez by CLICKING HERE.

Enrollment for the 2024-2025 school year for returning families will begin on December 18, 2023. All existing families who have not requested financial aid in the past will start to receive an enrollment contract via DocuSign. Space is very limited for some grades and priority will be given to all returning families. Please do not delay in signing a contract once you receive it to secure a spot for your child. After signing, the system will ask you to pay the $265.00 enrollment fee. Review the letter above for deadlines. You will receive an email from FACTS once Mr. Rico sets up your automatic tuition payment drafts if you choose to pay via this option.

If your family is going to apply for the NC Opportunity Scholarship, and your family is a recipient once the NCSEAA notifies families in April 2024, PLEASE let Mr. Rico know so that he can adjust your tuition with the correct award amount (scroll down for more info).

If a family would like to add a new student/sibling, please let Mr. Rico know so he can adjust your contract accordingly. Remember, we will need the following documents for all new students:

• Copy of the student's birth certificate
• Copy of the student's immunization records
• If the family is Catholic, a copy of the student's certificate of baptism.
• Submit an application, if K-8 APPLY HERE, if a Little Knight, APPLY HERE.

Contracts for families requesting financial aid will be sent after their applications for aid have been processed and a scholarship amount is known. This will be communicated in early March.

2024-25 African American and Native American Tuition Assistance Program

Applications for our 2024-25 African American and Native American Tuition Assistance program will open on Feb. 1, 2024. Please note that this scholarship program is administered by the Office of Education in collaboration with the AAMEN office (African American Ministry and Evangelization). We are grateful for their support and advocacy!

As a reminder, it is no longer required that families complete a FACTS tuition application for this scholarship, and preschool students are eligible to apply.

Black and Indian Mission (BIMO) Tuition Assistance for Students of African American and Native American Ancestry

Catholic school students (Preschool-12th grade) of African American Ancestry and Native American heritage in the Diocese of Raleigh are eligible to apply for tuition assistance. The assistance awards are funded by parish second collection donations and a grant from the Black and Indian Mission Office founded by the Catholic bishops of the United States. 

• All applicants MUST complete a Catholic school enrollment application before this application will be considered.
• Applications are available at https://form.jotform.com/schoolsoffice/2024-25BIMOGrant, open on February 1, 2024, and close on March 15, 2024. A separate application must be completed for each student.
• Applicant verification lists will be emailed to principals no later than May 1, 2024. Please note that this information is sent only to principals - it is your responsibility to forward the information to your finance or tuition teams.
• Decision letters will be emailed to parents no later than May 24, 2024. 
• Tuition awards are expected to be $200 again this year, and checks will be sent from the diocese to the applicant’s school.

Winter uniforms begin next Monday, November 6. Just a few reminders:

1. French Toast items run very differently in sizing from Lands End. Sounds like the tops are much smaller.
2. Review our Uniform Guidelines by CLICKING HERE.
3. If you order any logo items and they are the wrong size, they CANNOT be returned.
4. Orders are arriving in about a week. So if you need new shirts, you should order them as soon as possible to receive them in time.
5. Graham Sporting Goods is the ONLY provider of PE shirts. French Toast will not be offering them.

Chaperoning in the field trip?

If you are coming to the trip, you are agareeing to be a chaperone you will need to take a Safe Environment Training and a Background check. We will have more details in the first week of November.

The dates for Safe Environment training will be announced later. You will also need to contact the front office (336-570-0019) to schedule your background check.

We have new Corporate Sponsorship Opportunities for the 2023-2024 school year. We would love to help promote your business, while you support our school! 

Money raised during the 2022-2023 school year was used for several major and unexpected expenses. We are in the process of replacing our 26-year-old Fire Alarm System at the Main Campus. We also replaced and repaired flooring in several areas of the building. A few rooms also received new paint!

Due to increased enrollment, we purchased 100 new Chromebooks for our students. None of these things would have been possible without the support of our community!

Le Petit Ballet Co.

Last Wednesday, December 6th, Ms. Linda Santiago Benitez and her Ballet class performed for their families! It was wonderful to see the girls dance. Make sure you sign up for the Spring sessions which will run from January 24 to March 6, every Wednesday from 3:15 - 4:00 pm. The cost is $175 for the 12 sessions. CLICK HERE to sign up!
