This morning, October 4th at 8 am, we held our Annual Blessing of the Animals event with Fr. Vincent! Thank you to all of our families who participated and brought their pets in for a special blessing. We also took a moment to pray for our brothers and sisters in Western North Carolina and we will be fundraising to donate to the help.

This morning, our BSS families brought in cats, dogs, a fish, a hedgehog, and even a baby turtle! 💙💛

Gracias a todas nuestras familias que participaron y trajeron a sus mascotas para recibir una bendición especial. ¡Teníamos gatos, perros, un herizo e incluso una tortuga! También nos tomamos un momento para orar por nuestros hermanos y hermanas en el oeste de Carolina del Norte y recaudaremos fondos para donar a la ayuda.

Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month!

Right after the Blessing of the Animals, at 10am, we celebrated our 2nd annual Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration! We had several presentations by our students. We would like to give a special thanks to our Spanish & Music Teachers Dr. Martha Jones, Ms. Asmar, Mrs. Spradlin & Mrs. Kennedy for preparing the students! A huge shoutout to Mrs. Gomez for putting the program together and our special guests: Dylan and his little sister for dancing and signing! We are blessed to have so many parents supporting our students and for coming to see them perform! Muchisimas gracias!

8th Grade fundraising to go to the State Fair

Our 8th grade students are raising money for their field trip to the NC State Fair. Last Wednesday afternoon, they hosted a movie afternoon for our elementary students! Everyone had a great time!!

So far, they have raised $1,016.00! They have a goal of $1,500.00. This would give all 8th graders a wristband for rides and $20 spending money.

Food Pantry Distribution Day

On Monday, October 7, we will have our next Food Distribution at 408 W Davis Street from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. We are always in need of volunteers to help us distribute food. Please come to help us feed those in need. Over the past six months, we have distributed food to 500-plus families. Thank you all for your help and participation in our efforts to support our communities!

Oktoberfest 2024

Oktoberfest is upon us! It will be held on Saturday, October 26th from 5:00-8:30. We will be at the Elementary campus, 515 Hillcrest Avenue, on the back lawn. Oktoberfest is a fun event that we look forward to every year, but does require a lot of volunteer help. Please look over our sign-ups and consider donating some of your time to ensure our kids have a great Oktoberfest experience! Everyone us welcome!

ABSS High School Options Fair

Tomorrow, Saturday, October 5th, ABSS will host the annual High School Options Fair from 9 am until 12 PM at Holly Hill Mall in Burlington. The event is free and open to all Alamance County families with students. 

Come by to learn more about the Alamance-Burlington International Baccalaureate program, Fire Academy, EMT Academy, Public Safety Academy, the AIMS Academy for Advanced Integrated Math & Science, the Alamance-Burlington Early College at Alamance Community College, the Pre-Collegiate Academy, the Alamance Virtual School, the Teacher Scholars program, many Career and Technical Education options, and how students can earn college credits while still in high school with Alamance Community College and Elon University.

Girls will begin at 4 pm. Boys will begin after the last girl crosses the finish line. 

The cost of admissions for the race will be $5 per car.

There will be water, Gatorade, and fruit for the runners at the finish line. 

Friday Reminders

Lunch: 

Eat healthy carbs (rice, whole grain bread, pasta) and protein (chicken, yogurt, cheese). Limit really high fiber foods, like beans and broccoli, and high fat foods, including fried food, cream based sauces, and red meat/pork. Lots of water!

Snack: 

1-2 hours before your race time, eat a banana, peanut butter on toast or crackers, granola bar, or similar snack and drink electrolyte water (gatorade, pedialyte).

Summer Uniforms

Friendly reminder, we will be wearing our Winter Uniforms on Monday, November 4th!

Winter uniforms begin next Monday, November 4th. Just a few reminders:

1. French Toast items run very differently in sizing from Lands End. Sounds like the tops are much smaller.
2. Review our Uniform Guidelines by CLICKING HERE.
3. If you order any logo items and they are the wrong size, they CANNOT be returned.
4. Orders are arriving in about a week. So if you need new shirts, you should order them as soon as possible to receive them in time.
5. Graham Sporting Goods is the ONLY provider of PE shirts. French Toast will not be offering them.

PE Uniforms:

You can still purchase PE uniforms locally at Graham Sporting Goods. They have yellow PE shirts, solid sweatpants, and zip-up jackets. You do NOT have to get the logo on the sweatpants, but it must be on the jacket and sweatshirt.

PE pants need to be solid navy. There should not be any lines down the sides or decals on them.
