This morning, Friday, March 21st, The Magnolia House of Greensboro, visited our middle school campus and gave a presentation to our students about The Negro Traveler's Green Book through virtual reality goggles. The students enjoyed their lesson on the life of African Americans in 1939, a guide to businesses that welcomed Black travelers who faced being turned away or threatened in a time of segregation.

BSS Celebrated St Patrick's Day!

Last Monday, March 17th, the Blessed Sacrament School Community celebrated St. Patrick's Day with an Out-of-Uniform day of wearing green! A special thanks to the students and families who brought a canned green food item or any canned or boxed goods for the Food Pantry! Last Friday, March 14th, our Pre-K class got a head start on the festivities with Mrs. Gomez reading Pete the Cat and the Great Leprechaun Chase. Thank you BSS Families🍀💚

BSS Skate Night FUNdraiser Success! ¡Éxito en la Noche de Patinaje de BSS!

Thank you to all of our BSS families, students, and community who attended our BSS Skate Night Fundraiser last Monday, March 17th in the evening. We were able to fundraise $465.00 for our school! Thank you Roll-A-Bout Skating Center and Ms. VanWeest for making this event possible.

Scholastic Book Fair Success! Feria de los Libros Exitoso!

This week we celebrated our traditional Scholastic Book Fair! All of our students and staff had the chance to browse through the store and make their book purchases. We also celebrated our Family Book Night last Thursday, March 20 in the afternoon. We would like to give a special thanks to Ms. Michele Corradini and Mrs. Danielle Vonier for spearheading this event and all of the parent volunteers who helped put the book fair together. Among the volunteers there AlumnKnight Emily Corradini, Knight of Columbus Mr. Mike Spire, Mrs. Cassie Ortiz, Mrs. Aurora Kennedy and student Mia, Mrs. Tonya & Mr. Chris Byerly, Ms. Nikki Murray & Ms. Carson Carnahan. It takes a village and we are so grateful for your support!

As a build-up to the book fair, student council members organized a candy counting game where everyone would have to guess the number of pieces of Skittles, Rolos, Andes Mint, and Airhead Extremes in four jars of candy. The winners got a $10 Book Fair Certificate. The winners were: Rory (2), Jude (5), Rosios (5), Gabriela (3), Calleigh Drew (8), & Ian Ochoa (6) Congratulations Knights! Happy Reading!

Know-It-All Knight!

Hey BSS families! On March 28th from 5:30-7:00 a group of 8th Graders will be hosting a Know-It-All Knight! We will sell snacks and drinks throughout the night. Blessings Bags

On Wednesday, the National Junior Honor Society decorated and filled “Blessing Bags”, filled with snacks and toiletries. The Blessing Bags will be donated to the Salvation Army After School Program for children in 4th to 8th grades. Thank you to Mrs. Harrison for bringing up this amazing idea to the NJHS, and going out to buy all the ingredients to make these bags possible. Our hope is to further expand this project by giving them to all the children in the Salvation Army program, Kindergarten through 8th grade.

Fr. Vincent Visits MS-Ham Radio

Our middle school students have been studying waves in their science class this Spring, and one of these is radio waves. Well, Fr. Vincent came to speak to our students about Ham Radios. It was very interesting to see the students broadcasting and it was heard all the way to Canada! Thank you for your visit Fr. Vincent! Renew Your NC Opportunity Scholarship

If your child is a recipient of an NC Opportunity Scholarship for the current 2024-2025 school year, make sure you renew the scholarship for the upcoming school year as you will receive priority to receive an award versus new families who are just applying this month. CLICK HERE to review the Award Income Tiers for the 2025-2026 school year. Do not delay and renew as the deadline is April 15th, 2025, and if you miss it, your child will lose the scholarship.

The Diocese of Raleigh is pleased to announce an opportunity for Catholic school families of African American and Native-American heritage for the 2025-2026 school year.

Through our African American and Native American Ancestry Tuition Assistance program, we aim to make Catholic education more accessible to eligible students from preschool through 12th grade. This vital initiative, supported by generous parish donations and a grant from the Black and Indian Mission Office, reflects our commitment to serving diverse communities throughout our diocese.

The 2025-2026 application for the African American and Native American Ancestry Tuition Assistance is now available at https://form.jotform.com/schoolsoffice/2025-26AAMENGrant.

This scholarship program is administered by the Diocese of Raleigh Office of Education.

Catholic school students (Preschool-12th grade) of African Ancestry and Native American heritage in the Diocese of Raleigh are eligible to apply for tuition assistance from February 1 - March 15, 2025.

The assistance awards are funded by parish second collection donations and a grant from the Black and Indian Mission Office founded by the Catholic bishops of the United States. All applicants MUST complete a Catholic school enrollment application before this application will be considered.

Decision letters will be emailed to parents no later than May 24, 2025. 

Tuition awards are sent from the diocese to the applicant’s school.

Please review the 2025-2026 Tuition Rates for the upcoming school year! We have only increased the K-8 Tuition. The Little Knights's tuition, enrollment fee, and STEAMM Fees will remain the same. If you believe that your family will need a scholarship, please apply for an NC Opportunity Scholarship, which will open applications for new families from February 6th to March 6th, 2025. Enrollment Timeline for the 2025-2026 School Year

Families with a scholarship will receive their re-enrollment agreement towards in the next coming weeks. If your family will be adding a sibling, make sure that you let Mr. Rico know so he can add the new student to your contract and reserve his or her seat in the class roster for the upcoming school year. Remember, all new students must apply to our school, and submit a copy of their birth certificate, immunization records, and baptismal certificate if the family is Catholic. Summer Uniforms

Friendly reminder, we will be transitioning to Summer Uniforms on April 7th, 2025!

Winter uniforms begin next Monday, November 4th. Just a few reminders:

1. French Toast items run very differently in sizing from Lands End. Sounds like the tops are much smaller.
2. Review our Uniform Guidelines by CLICKING HERE.
3. If you order any logo items and they are the wrong size, they CANNOT be returned.
4. Orders are arriving in about a week. So if you need new shirts, you should order them as soon as possible to receive them in time.
5. Graham Sporting Goods is the ONLY provider of PE shirts. French Toast will not be offering them.

PE Uniforms:

You can still purchase PE uniforms locally at Graham Sporting Goods. They have yellow PE shirts, solid sweatpants, and zip-up jackets. You do NOT have to get the logo on the sweatpants, but it must be on the jacket and sweatshirt.

PE pants need to be solid navy. There should not be any lines down the sides or decals on them.
