Catholic Schools Week 2023: Strengthening Families in the Diocese of Raleigh #CSW23
"Since 1974, National Catholic Schools Week is the annual celebration of Catholic education in the United States. It begins on the last Sunday in January and continues all week, which in 2023 is January 29 – February 4. During this week, our schools in the Diocese of Raleigh celebrate the support of our parishes, communities, students, nation, families, faculty, staff and volunteers. Additionally, schools celebrate vocations to help students explore the many life paths that enable them to use their talents well in the service of God and others.
Throughout Catholic Schools Week, parents are encouraged to consider choosing Catholic schools for the formation and education of their families. Assistant Superintendent Dr. John Pendergrass stated, 'Our Catholic schools provide the environment and structure to ensure that each day includes the intentional foundations of the Holy Bible, the seven sacraments, and the power of daily prayer. Parents are invited to consider a school with a worldview that is centered on God’s only begotten son, Jesus.' "- dioceseofraleigh.org

Catholic Schools Week - Strengthening Families
On Monday, January 30th, we celebrated our first day of Catholic Schools Week, and spent the entire day without power! As usual, nothing stops our teachers! They figured out how to continue teaching and made the day as smooth as possible for our students. Thank you to the entire BSS staff for always staying positive and persevering through any challenge! To celebrate our community last Monday, our elementary students made a few special deliveries. Our 2nd-grade class walked downtown to deliver a gift to Subway. In return, our students were treated to cookies! Subway is owned by one of our current parents and always welcomes our students into their restaurant. They also provide lunch to our students on Wednesday each week! Thank you Nasrawin & Naffa families for all you do!
Our 1st-grade class delivered a cookie platter to First Presbyterian Church of Burlington. Their employees told our students it was so kind of them to walk all the way to their church to give them a gift! Thank you parents that were able to come with us!
Our 3rd-grade class dropped off a cookie platter at Front Street United Methodist Church! Our students were taken on a tour of the church! They saw their place of worship and heard stories about the stained glass windows.
Our Kindergarten students delivered cookies to the employees at Meals on Wheels!
Our 4th-grade class delivered a cookie platter to the employees at May Memorial Library in downtown Burlington.

Dress Down Day Theme 3: Wacky Tacky Day
Celebrating our Nation! Last Wednesday, February 1st, our middle school students delivered cookies in costume to the police department, firefighters, post office workers, and municipal office workers.
Our 5th-grade class visited the Post Office! One of their employees shared with us that she attended BSS in Kindergarten!
Our 8th-grade students delivered cookie platters to the Municipal Building. They also wrote letters of appreciation to our local government officials. Throughout the week, they researched them in Social Studies and wrote the letters in LA.

From the Office of Admissions
Dear Parents,
The admissions office is in the process of preparing to send out re-enrollment contracts for the following school year to our returning students/families. We are proud to announce that there will be no increase in tuition rates for the 2023-2024 school year! Please, review a letter from Mrs. Gomez by CLICKING HERE. You can review our enrollment timeline by CLICKING HERE.
Enrollment for the 2022-2023 school year for returning families will begin on January 23, 2022. All existing families who have not requested financial aid in the past will start to receive an enrollment contract via DocuSign. Space is very limited for rising 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th & 7th graders and priority will be given to all returning families. Please do not delay in signing a contract once you receive it to secure a spot for your child. After signing, the system will ask you to pay the $265.00 enrollment fee. Review the letter above for deadlines. You will receive an email from FACTS once Mr. Rico sets up your automatic tuition payment drafts if you choose to pay via this option.
If a family would like to add a new student/sibling, please let Mr. Rico know so he can adjust your contract accordingly. Remember, we will need the following documents for all new students:
- Copy of the student's birth certificate
- Copy of the student's immunization records
- If the family is Catholic, a copy of the student's certificate of baptism.
Contracts for families requesting financial aid will be sent after their applications for aid have been processed and a scholarship amount is known. This will be communicated around March 31.
If you have any questions about this process, you can contact Mr. Rico.
