Scholastic Book Fair!

Dear BSS Families,

Get ready—the Scholastic Book Fair is coming to our school! This is a great opportunity to build your child’s home library with new books they’ll dive into again and again. The easiest way to let your child shop the Fair independently is by creating an eWallet. It’s easy to set up and easy for others to add funds.

Create an eWallet, and you’ll also have the opportunity to contribute to Share the Fair - the giving program that supports students at our school who need help buying books. Consider participating so that no child leaves the Fair empty-handed! ¡Prepárense! ¡La Feria del Libro de Scholastic llega a nuestra escuela! Esta es una gran oportunidad para enriquecer la biblioteca doméstica de sus hijos con libros nuevos en los que se sumergirán una y otra vez. La forma más sencilla de permitir que su hijo compre en la feria de manera independiente es creando una eWallet. Es muy fácil de configurar y también resulta sencillo para que otras personas añadan fondos. Color Wars!

As part of their Pay It Forward Project, a group of 8th-grade students organized Color Wars for hire! Students and staff could choose to pay $6.00 to "sabotage" a classroom, leave a note for $1, or clean up for $4.00. Many of our Elementary classrooms were sabotaged this week with colorful balloons, rainbows, and glitter! 💙💛

Knights of Summer Camp 2026 Registration Open!

Campers will do a myriad of activities based on the week's theme. Going beyond just arts and crafts, children will be able to get hands-on experience with various animals and do a deep dive into their differing environments. Knights of Summer Camp is available for children aged 3- rising 8th grade. Before and after camp care will be available.

The camp will run from June 8 - July 31, 2025. The camp will close for a week from June 29 - July 3.

Elementary School Parking

Just a friendly reminder: If you're late dropping off your child at 515 Hillcrest Ave. Campus, please use our parking lot and walk your child to the entrance. The Burlington Police Department has started issuing parking tickets for vehicles parked after 7:45 am. Hillcrest Avenue is now included in the ABSS School route, and we must keep the street clear since they cannot navigate around your parked vehicle.

If you're coming to drop off lunch, kindly park in our parking lot or across the street from our Elementary School Campus, ensuring you do not block any driveways. The trash truck cannot pass through if your car is parked there during lunch, and you risk receiving a parking ticket as well.

Un recordatorio amistoso: si llega tarde dejando a su hijo/a en el campus de 515 Hillcrest Ave., por favor use nuestro estacionamiento y acompáñelo/a hasta la entrada. El Departamento de Policía de Burlington ha comenzado a emitir multas de estacionamiento para vehículos estacionados después de las 7:45 a. m. Hillcrest Avenue ahora forma parte de la ruta escolar de ABSS y debemos mantener la calle despejada, ya que no pueden sortear su vehículo estacionado.

Si viene a dejar el almuerzo, por favor, estacione en nuestro estacionamiento o al otro lado de la calle e campus de la Escuela Primaria, asegurándose de no bloquear ninguna entrada de vehículos. Blessed Sacrament School is a member of PECSAA (Piedmont Elementary Catholic School Athletic Association). For most sports, students from 5th-8th grade are eligible to participate.

***All athletes must have their "Athletic Permission and Emergency form for 2025-2026" and the "Athletic Physical Form" completed at the time of their first tryout/practice or they WILL NOT be able to participate. No exceptions.***

Apply for Scholarship Opportunities

The NC Opportunity Scholarship will open up for new families on Monday, February 2nd. Make sure your new application is received by March 1st!. If your family is renewing the scholarship, you will start to receive the Spring endorsement requests that your child(dren) is/are attending BSS in the coming weeks, and then they will ask you to renew the scholarship for the upcoming school year. Do not forget to request a new scholarship for an enrolling K-8 sibling.

El programa de becas NC Opportunity Scholarship abrirá su plazo de solicitud para nuevas familias el lunes 2 de febrero. Asegúrese de mandar la aplicación antes del 1.º de marzo para nuevas familias. On February 1, 2026, the 2026-2027 application for the African American and Native American Ancestry Tuition Assistance will be available. This scholarship program is now being administered by the Diocese of Raleigh Office of Education. El 1 de febrero de 2026 estará disponible la solicitud para el programa de ayuda financiera para la matrícula destinado a estudiantes de ascendencia afroamericana e indígena para el año académico 2026-2027. Catholic school students (Preschool-12th grade) of African Ancestry and Native American heritage in the Diocese of Raleigh are eligible to apply for tuition assistance beginning February 1, 2026. The assistance awards are funded by parish second collection donations and a grant from the Black and Indian Mission Office, founded by the Catholic bishops of the United States. Please review the 2026-2027 Tuition Rates for the upcoming school year, and there will be no increase in tuition! If you believe that your family will need a scholarship, please apply for an NC Opportunity Scholarship, which will open applications for new families on February 2nd, 2026. Your family is also welcome to apply to our BSS Scholarship via the FACTS Grant & Aid determination process-We just ask you to apply for an Opportunity Scholarship first.

Enrollment Timeline for the 2026-2027 School Year

CLICK HERE to access the BSS enrollment timeline we will follow this Spring. Our admissions office will begin sending re-enrollment agreements to families who usually do not apply for a scholarship next week. Families with a scholarship will receive their re-enrollment agreement starting the first week of February. If your family is adding a sibling, please notify Mr. Rico so he can update your contract and reserve a seat for the new student in the class roster for the upcoming school year. Remember, all new students must apply to our school and submit a copy of their birth certificate, immunization records, and baptismal certificate if the family is Catholic. You can contact Mr. Rico at admissions@bssknights.org for any questions.

Middle School Fieldtrips 2026!

PE Uniforms:

You can still purchase PE uniforms locally at Graham Sporting Goods. They have yellow PE shirts, solid sweatpants, and zip-up jackets. You do NOT have to get the logo on the sweatpants, but it must be on the jacket and sweatshirt.

PE pants need to be solid navy. There should not be any lines down the sides or decals on them.
