Blessings of the Animals
This morning, Friday, October 1st, our school welcomed horses, cats, dogs, and even caterpillars! Why? Well because this upcoming October 4th is St. Francis Day in honor of the Patron Saint of Animals, Saint Francis of Assisi. In remembrance of his love for all sentient beings, guardians sometimes take their animal companions to church for a Blessing of the Animals. Father Paul came to our school to lead our Animal Prayer Services and blessed all of our student's pets that parents brought in!

Thank you to all of our parents who brought their pets for the blessing!

Coaches Needed

It is hard to believe that our fall sports season will soon be coming to an end and we will be heading into basketball season! With that being said, I am looking for several different coaches. In the winter we have JV/Varsity Girls Basketball, JV/Varsity boys basketball, JV/Varsity Cheerleading. Each team needs a minimum of two coaches. There need to be two adults at every practice and every game. We will be traveling during basketball season and participating in several different tournaments. Please let me know if you are interested in coaching or being a part of our winter sports season.

Teacher's Spotlight
Since we are unable to do many activities inside the school where parents can meet and get to know Blessed Sacrament School Community's teachers or staff members, we are going to bring them to you through our Teacher's Spotlight Section here!

Each week, we will feature a teacher or staff member and they will share a little about themselves. This week, we will have Ms. Chris Magrane!!
Originally from New York, Ms. Chris Magrane is the Parish Bookkeeper and works closely with our business manager as it pertains to the school and church offices finances-she is responsible for paying for all of our school bills! Ms. Magrane began working for the Blessed Sacrament Church back in October 1990 and will be celebrating 31 years working at the Parish Office next month!

Before coming to Blessed Sacrament, Ms. Magrane lived in Long Island, NY. She moved to Burlington back in 1990 with her family. She has three children: AlumnKnights Meghann, Patrick, and Caitlin; and two wonderful grandchildren: Nicky (5) and Charlie (K), who currently attend Blessed Sacrament School! She also has a 7-year-old Schnauzer dog named Scrappy. Ms. Magrane also shared with us that she was an English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher for Alamance County Community College for 14 years and loved every minute of it!

Ms. Magrane has had ties to Blessed Sacrament for generations now. She has 7 siblings and all of her family lives in the area. Ms. Magrane shared with us that her sister Jennie worked as the Parish Secretary for over 30 years with her and her other sister Barbara was a teacher at BSS! Family is very important for her and told us that her dad is 95 and her mom is 92 and taught her the importance of the 3 Fs: Faith, Family, and Friends.

One of Ms. Magrane's highlights of her career at Blessed Sacrament is when she and the church staff had the opportunity to travel to Italy a couple of years ago and visit the church where St. Francis of Assisi lived. This experience humbled her to continue working for the church, "This is not just a bookkeeping job or a business, is a ministry!"

When she is not working, Ms. Magrane enjoys refurbishing furniture, collect jewelry, traveling, and spending time with her family and boyfriend Terry.

Support BSS Retail Cards Sales!
What are Retail Cards? Retail cards are store certificates (plastic cards) that our school purchases at a discount and sells to you at face value for a school profit. The discount given is different with each vendor. BSS has used the profit money in the past for school technology and current needs of the school.

Why should you buy Retail Cards with BSS?
The profits from this program make up an important part of our fundraising budget. It is an easy and great way to help BSS earn fundraising dollars and not spend an extra dime. Everyone buys groceries and gas, and may occasionally eat out. Before your next trip to the gas station, grocery store, or restaurant, please consider purchasing Retail Cards with us.

Where can I buy these Retail Cards?
You may purchase the Retail Cards in the school office any day during school hours. CLICK HERE to access the order form.
Please make check payable to BSS HSA Scrip. Returned check fee is $35.
Thank you for participating in our school fundraiser.
Visit https:/ for all participating vendors.
