Last Friday, September 6th, we celebrated our 8th Grade Commissioning Service. Our 8th graders were commissioned as our school's servant leaders for the school year.

Blessed Sacrament School students learn to care for others, seek leadership opportunities, and provide service to others. The student servant leadership model ensures that our 8th graders are prepared to be leaders here at BSS and later, in their future schools and communities. 

Students know to greet and assist visitors, notice and respond to others’ needs, and take ownership of their words and actions. Pairing older students with younger ones is an experience we find successfully builds leadership and a sense of community. Congratulations eighth grade class of 2024-2025!

Remembering 9/11

Last Wednesday, September 11, we held a prayer service with the rosary remembering all of the people who lost their lives in the 9/11 attacks in New York back in 2001. We will never forget. We pray for their souls and for the families who they left behind.

Executive Functioning

This Week’s Executive Functioning Tip: Minimize! In middle school, students move from class to class. Binders are their “homes” for class essentials, including pencil bags that hold necessary tools. Too much leads to binders that become stretched and weakened. In Executive Functioning class we have created orderly pencil bags with only the necessary items needed each day. Extra items have been stored with homeroom teachers or in ziplock bags in lockers. During homeroom, students should check binders and pencil bags adding tools that have run low.

Coach Bridgette will be holding an OPTIONAL cross country practice this Friday, September 13 from 3-4pm at Blessed Sacrament Church (the trail) for any runners who would like extra practice. This practice is optional due to no school that day.

Esperanza Festival 2024

Blessed Sacrament School invites you to the Esperanza Festival 2024! It will take place on Sunday, September 22, 2024 in Downtown Graham, NC from 12:00 - 8:00pm. This is a family-friendly event where everyone can enjoy music, food, dances, and tabled community resources for families. No te lo pierdas! 

We will have a table at the event, so come say hi!

Oktoberfest 2024

Oktoberfest is upon us! It will be held on Saturday, October 26th from 5:00-8:30. We will be at the Elementary campus, 515 Hillcrest Avenue, on the back lawn. Oktoberfest is a fun event that we look forward to every year, but does require a lot of volunteer help. Please look over our sign-ups and consider donating some of your time to ensure our kids have a great Oktoberfest experience!

Le Petit Ballet Co.

Miss Linda & Miss Jenny are coming back to BSS this Fall for Ballet classes! Classes will start on September 17 and will take place every Tuesday until December 3rd. CLICK HERE to get your child registered for Ballet!

If your child already stays for afterschool care at BSS, Miss Linda will pick up and drop off your child at afterschool care right after her Tuesday class (3:15 - 4:00 pm).

Some friendly reminders:

• Please note of a dismissal time change every Wednesday beginning on September 11 for both campuses. To have more professional time with the faculty/staff, and in the fact that we do not have teacher workdays, dismissals on Wednesday will be at 1:45pm. Schedules were created to make sure students would not lose one hour of academic instruction of core classes. Students will be dismissed at 1:45. At two o’clock, students not picked up will go directly to afterschool. Students already enrolled in afterschool will have no extra fee for the extra hour. 
• Make sure that you review our Club Knight Afterschool Care Services and CLICK HERE to sign your child up for afterschool care services.
• CLICK HERE to access a welcome letter Mrs. Gomez sent on August 9th introducing our 2024-2025 School Faculty.
• The traffic pattern at the Main Campus (515 Hillcrest Ave.) is as follows: You enter the parking lot through High Street, park, and then exit the parking lot through Hillcrest Ave. High Street is a two-way street, and Hillcrest Ave becomes a one-way Street between 7:00 am - 4:00 pm.

Soccer Boys Team

Our BSS Soccer Team has been doing very well this Fall soccer season! They played against St. Pius last August 26th and made a great effort and last Wednesday, September 11, they won 5-0 against Our Lady of Mercy! Way to go Knights!

We would like to give special thanks to Coach Aleem, Coach Miller, Coach Morrison, and the rest of the parents helping prepare our boys for the games.

A huge shoutout to Mr. & Mrs. Miller for purchasing new soccer uniforms for our Knights this season! Thank you! 💙💛

Summer Uniforms

Friendly reminder, we will be wearing our Summer Uniforms once we start the new school year!

Summer uniforms begin next Wednesday, August 21. Just a few reminders:

1. French Toast items run very differently in sizing from Lands End. Sounds like the tops are much smaller.
2. Review our Uniform Guidelines by CLICKING HERE.
3. If you order any logo items and they are the wrong size, they CANNOT be returned.
4. Orders are arriving in about a week. So if you need new shirts, you should order them as soon as possible to receive them in time.
5. Graham Sporting Goods is the ONLY provider of PE shirts. French Toast will not be offering them.

PE Uniforms:

You can still purchase PE uniforms locally at Graham Sporting Goods. They have yellow PE shirts, solid sweatpants, and zip-up jackets. You do NOT have to get the logo on the sweatpants, but it must be on the jacket and sweatshirt.

PE pants need to be solid navy. There should not be any lines down the sides or decals on them.
