Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration!

Celebrating Bilingual Mass

We started the day with a bilingual mass celebrated by Fr. Jose. The students did a wonderful procession in typical Latino celebration attire. We honor all of the contributions made by people of Hispanic & Latin American descent.

Once mass ended, we sang Happy Birthday to Fr. Jose! 🎂🎉🎊🎈

Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month!

Right after mass, at 10 am, we celebrated our 3rd annual Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration! We had several presentations and dances by our students. We want to give a special thanks to our guests: Huepa Culture & Arts Institute and Mariachi Los Gallos de Carlos Garcia! We would like to thank our Spanish & Music Teachers for helping the students prepare. A huge shoutout to Mrs. Gomez for putting the program together- even our Superintendent of Schools from the Diocese of Raleigh, Marcelo Eureste, Assistant Superintendent Marcia Edge Navarro, & Director of Marketing and Enrollment Anna Bragg came to see our students. We have very talented and artistic students. We are blessed to have so many parents supporting our students and for coming to see them perform! ¡Muchísimas gracias!

Have a great weekend, knights! Pura Vida!

¡Pura vida!

STEAMM Co-Worker Fieldtrips

This week, all of our students had a chance to go on a walking field trip Burlington Arboretum at Willowbrook Park. They had three activities: 1) Jason Barnhill, Willowbrook Arboretum Manager, Forestry & Trees, 2) Amy Barber

Environmental Programs & Arboretum Stormwater Manager, Macroinvertebrates & 3) Katie Frisbie, Environmental Education Specialist, Water Testing & Biodiversity. Thank you, Mrs. Tichy & Mrs. Kennedy, for putting these fieldtrips together with our local parks community. The students learned a lot & enjoyed it very much!

Fire Prevention Day

On Thursday, October 9, we held our Fire Prevention Day! We had a visit from the Burlington Fire Department, including Captain Therman Murphy, Lieutenant Blake Hartung, Firefighter Dail Hernandez from Burlington Fire Engine 1, Captain David Sharpe, Captain Tyson Teague, Grayson Shnoffner & County Force Ranger Jean Johnson as Smoky the Bear! The students learned so many things about having a plan just in case of a fire.
