Listen Generously
"My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry," James 1:19 (NIV).
"The purposes of a person's heart are deep waters, but one who has insight draws them out." Proverbs 20:5 (NIV).
I have been thinking lately about the importance of being a good listener. Most of us forget the truth of James 1:19 and reverse the sequence: we are often quick to speak and slow to listen, which is a formula for people to become angry. It will take plenty of time to understand "the purposes of a person's heart" in order to have the insight needed to "draw them out." I shared with the faculty and staff that for some reason my wife is not impressed when she is sharing something significant with me and I am checking my phone. The art of listening well seems to be declining in our high-tech society. Parents — do we take the time to listen carefully to our children, especially our teenagers? Listening well is a prerequisite to understanding. It is not surprising that there are multiple places in scripture that reference the importance of listening well. May this be a characteristic of our King's Christian School community!

Senior Information Night
Tomorrow, Oct. 8 | 6:30 p.m. | APR
The class of 2025 seniors and parents should plan to attend this informational meeting tomorrow, October 8, at 6:30 p.m. We will be covering many aspects of senior year, including senior trip, fundraising, prom, baccalaureate and graduation, the college admissions timeline, ranking, transcripts, and financial aid for college. Refreshments will be provided.

Homecoming Dance

Attention all high school students! Join us on Friday, October 25, for our Knight in Lights homecoming dance. This event is open to all King's high school students. One guest per student is allowed. If your guest is not a TKCS student, they must have a signed permission form. The dress code for this event is formal attire.

Parent Seminar on Bullying Rescheduled for November!
Wednesday, Nov. 20 | 7 p.m. | APR
Paul Couglin from The Protectors will be coming to King's on Wednesday, November 20, following the same schedule we had planned for his previously postponed visit. He will speak to students in the morning, to faculty in the afternoon, and to parents in an evening session at 7 p.m. in the APR. Registration not required. Please feel free to invite friends to this parent seminar!

Night with your Knight
Saturday, Oct. 19 | 2:30–4:30 p.m. | [Laurel Lanes] in Maple Shade
Young men in grades K-5 are invited to spend an afternoon bowling with their moms, aunts, grandmothers, or other special female role models at the bowling alley! [Sign up online] to purchase your tickets. The cost is $32 for adults, $22 for one child (son) and $17 for each additional child (son). Ticket prices include 2 hours of bowling, shoe rental, pizza, drinks, and homemade ice cream. This event will take place at Laurel Lanes, 2825 NJ-73, Maple Shade, NJ 08052 [map].

TKCS Golf Classic and Raffle Baskets
Item collection ends on Tuesday, Oct. 15
Our annual TKCS Golf Classic is coming up on Monday, October 21, at the Little Mill Country Club in Marlton, New Jersey! As part of this fun event, participants will have the chance to bid on themed raffle baskets, which will support King's annual fund. We need your help to make this a success.
Each class has been assigned a themed basket, and we are asking for your contributions. Please send in your items or gift cards by Tuesday, October 15. There will be a designated bin in each PreK and elementary classroom to collect your items. Room parents will coordinate assembling the baskets during the week of October 14. Middle and high school students should drop their contributions into the bin located in Mrs. Khalil's office. This is a wonderful opportunity to support our school and get involved, even if you’re not a golfer. [Class basket themes]
