Humility is a Foundational Virtue
I find in my leadership roles that it is often easier to teach others about Christ-like behavior than it is to do it myself. I have been reading about humility as a foundational virtue for all virtues. Jesus not only taught us about humility, but he also provided the perfect example: "Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death - even death on a cross!" (Phil.2:6-8, NIV). And Jesus made this very clear in his teaching: “..whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many" (Mark 10:43,44, NIV). What should humility look like in our lives? C.S. Lewis expressed it this way when he said that the truly humble man “will not be thinking about humility, he will not be thinking about himself at all” (Mere Christianity, p.128). Rick Warren expands on that thinking in The Purpose Driven Life: "Humility is not thinking less of yourself; it is thinking of yourself less. Humility is thinking more of others. Humble people are so focused on serving others, they don’t think of themselves" (p.149). May this type of humility that honors Jesus Christ be an ongoing characteristic present in our King's community — with employees, parents, students, and the Head of School!

Moms in Prayer Group
Wednesdays | 2–3 p.m. | Elementary Library
Moms, grandmoms, and aunts are invited to join us as we pray for students and our school using God’s Word, praying that they will be transformed by Christ. We live in a culture that seeks to confuse our kids about who they are and blind them to the truth of God’s Word and His love for them. But we are victorious in God, whose power is unleashed through our prayers!
For more information, or to submit prayer requests, please reach out to the TKCS prayer group through email [tkcsprayergroup@yahoo.com], or call Lisa Arroyo at (609) 238-2771 or Joy Hollows at (609) 330-9152.
