Dear Oak Creek High School Families,

Welcome to March Madness! We have several important academic updates to share as we move into the spring semester.

2026-2027 Course Selections

Students have officially completed their course selections for the upcoming year. Thank you for partnering with your student(s) to review graduation requirements and explore elective options. Our administrative team uses this data to build the master schedule. Finalized student schedule will be released via Infinite Campus in late August.

State Standardized Test Preparation

Students are actively engaging in IXL review sessions every Monday and Wednesday during GO Time. These prep activities are also accessible for additional practice. For specific testing dates, schedules, and more details on how you can support your child(ren), please refer to the informational letter emailed to families last week. You will also find additional details later in this newsletter.

Thank you for your continued partnership.

OCHS Class of 2026,

Midwest Scholastic will be delivering the Oak Creek High School Graduation Cap and Gown orders on April 14th during the lunch periods (11:15 - 1:15). Event will take place by the vending machines in the Main Lobby.

Senior Graduation Ticket orders are being taken at this time. The cost is $10 per ticket until April 10th. After that date, the price will increase to $15 per ticket. Check your emails for more information.

March is Standardized Testing Month for the ACT, PreACT, and the Forward (Social Studies) tests.  Standardized Tests are a state and federal requirement.  These assessments measure the knowledge and skills students should have for their grade-level.  Students’ performance on the assessment will not affect their grades. Please encourage your child to do the best they can. The results of these tests will be used to help school staff make determinations regarding curriculum, placement, and services to best support students.

Students have been preparing for these assessments during GO Time for the past month by using IXL twice a week to build skills that are aligned with past standardized test performance.   IXL is a resource that students can access at home as well.  Please review the Just a Click Away! PreACT, Forward and ACT Resources and Tips presentation, for more information about each of the tests as well as resources for test preparation.

Attendance Updates

Check-in/Check-Out Process: When students check in and out of the office (arriving late to school or leaving early) they use a kiosk system which will time stamp when they arrive and leave. Students arriving late will have a pass printed for them as they go to class.

Late Arrivals to School: We encourage students to be on time to school on a daily basis. When students are more than 15 minutes late for a class period, they are marked absent for the class. (per school handbook). Students should plan ahead on inclement weather days to account for slower traffic, slippery roads, etc, so they arrive on time to school.

Reporting Student Absences through the Parent Portal: Parents can report absences for students using the Parent Portal. On the home screen of the parent portal, the Request Absence Button is at the bottom of the page (phone app) and the bottom right if using a computer. We ask that parents still call the Attendance office if you are planning on picking up your student on short notice. Extended and pre-planned absences still need to be approved by completing the Pre-arranged Absence Form (extended medical, vacations, etc).

Illness While at School

If a student becomes ill while at school, the student must receive a pass from his/her teacher for that period and then report to the health room. A log is kept of the student’s visit to the health room. If a student must be excused from school, contact will be made with a parent/guardian for permission to dismiss the student. A parent must arrange transportation and pick up the student in the health room. Transportation home is the responsibility of the parents/guardian.

Early Release Dates

  • March 4, 18, 25
  • April 8, 15, 22, 29
