“As full of spirit as the month of May, and as gorgeous as the sun in Midsummer.” - William Shakespeare

As we enter the final stretch of the school year, we recognize that this season brings a mix of excitement and a need for renewed academic focus for our students. Juggling final exams, major projects, and various end-of-year commitments requires resilience and organization.

We ask that you continue to partner with us by emphasizing the importance of daily attendance and finishing the year strong academically. You can support your child’s success by helping them maintain a dedicated routine, consistent study habits, submitting all assignments on time, and reducing screen time are proven ways to allow for better concentration. Open communication is also vital, so please remind your child to reach out to their teachers with any questions or concerns. We want to help ensure our students end the school year with confidence and pride in their accomplishments.

Thank you for your ongoing partnership in your child’s education!

Please make sure to check the Daily Announcements during AP Testing for exam reminders. Any students testing with accommodations should look out for an email from Ms. Tenekejieva or Mrs. Moore with room assignments and materials to bring.

All students must bring the following on test day:

  • Fully charged Chromebook and Charger
  • College Board account login information***
  • Pencils and pens with blue or black ink
  • Approved calculator (if necessary)

They should ensure that they can log in successfully and see all their exams on the home screen.

Summer Learning with IXL

Did you know your student has access to IXL all summer long? IXL is an online program that provides personalized practice in reading, writing, and math. It is intended to be a small, but habitual practice tool to help students build skills at their own pace.

Just 15-20 minutes a few times a week can make a BIG difference in keeping skills sharp and preventing summer learning loss. Students can log in through Clever and continue working on their recommended skill plans or choose areas they’d like to strengthen!

Looking for an easy way to get started?

IXL offers a Summer Boost Skill Plan, which lays out four weeks of quick, focused practice spotlights that highlight essential skills for each grade level. It’s designed to be manageable and effective, giving students a clear “day-by-day” path instead of having to choose skills on their own.

For example, rising 9th graders might work on skills like identifying synonyms, analyzing counterclaims, drawing inferences, or converting between decimals and fractions --all by taking a few minutes to tackle some of these short, daily practice sessions.

Encourage your student to stick with it this summer. Small, consistent practice leads to big growth!

Reporting Attendance through the Parent Portal - Reminders and Clarification

Students who are leaving school due to illness are required to go to the Health Room to be checked out.  Parents cannot request a student to leave school due to illness through the Parent Portal. If your child calls you to leave school due to illness, they should report to the Health Room.  Requests by parents to release students early due to illness through Infinite Campus will be denied.

**If parents need to provide a short notice for a student to leave early, best practice is for the parent to call the Attendance Office rather than using the Parent Portal in Infinite Campus.**

Locker Clean-Out

All hall lockers must be completely emptied immediately after the last exam on Thursday, June 11, 2026. If an emergency or absence occurs, please call the school to ensure the safety of your belongings.  The school is not responsible for any items left in lockers after this time. Immediately after the last exam on the final day of school in the Spring, lockers are cleaned by the maintenance staff and items remaining are either donated to charity or disposed of. Students (Sophomores and Juniors) returning in the Fall should leave their locks on their lockers (as shown in the picture) over the Summer.

  • All Freshmen should take their locks home from the NGC and utilize them next year when they are at the 10-12 building.
  • Graduating Seniors, clean your lockers out and take your locks home.

Mountain Biking

Did you know you could join a mountain biking club team? Root River Youth Cycling Club is a USA Cycling Club open to all students K-12. For students interested in participating in WI NICA (National Interscholastic Cycling Association) we support the school districts of Greendale, Greenfield, Franklin, Whitnall, Oak Creek, St. Francis, Cudahy, or South Milwaukee. Fees

Students with outstanding fees:

Please be advised that prompt payment of all school fees is essential for the continued operation of our school and the services and resources to our students.

 Payment can be made:

  • Online: Infinite Campus Parent Portal ($2.00 processing fee)
  • In Person: Cash, Check or Card at High School M-F 7:15am - 3:30pm

Students with an outstanding balance are not eligible to purchase a parking pass, until all past due fees have been paid.

Senior students with outstanding fines/fees will not receive their diploma at the graduation ceremony; they will instead receive an invoice indicating the balance owed. Those diplomas will be available after the ceremony weekend, in the high school office, when the outstanding fines/fees have been paid.

Fees that remain outstanding 30 days after graduation will be remitted to the Waukesha County Collections Service. As part of the collection process, Waukesha Collections charges an additional 28% collection fee.

We appreciate your immediate attention to this matter and your cooperation in ensuring that all fees are settled promptly.

Parking Permits

There are still a limited number of Parking Permits available for purchase.  The cost of the permit for the remainder of the school year is $70.  If you are interested in purchasing a permit, please complete the Parking Permit Form.  Once you complete the form, you can stop by the Main Office to pay for and pick up your permit.  Full Parking Permit Information is available on the school website.

Environmental Club

Save the date for Environmental Club's upcoming plant sale! We will have herbs, flowers, veggies, and native plants. The sale will be on Sunday, May 17th, from 10 am to 3 pm in front of the main entrance to the high school. This is a partnership with STRIDES, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to a charity of the students' choosing!

Math in the Technical Fields

Mr. Shumate’s and Ms. Craig’s Math in the Technical Field’s class learns about how slope is used in road construction.
