Dear Parents and Guardians,

It’s that time of year – winter break is right around the corner. As you begin to prepare for the season, continue to encourage and require your students to attend classes regularly and complete homework thoroughly and in a timely manner. Final exams take place two weeks after we return from winter break. It will be important for students to be up-to-date with all coursework and assignments.

We want to thank you for your continued support and wish you a happy and safe holiday season.

Sincerely,

The Administrative Team

MATC Dual Enrollment

MATC Dual Enrollment Academy Info Nights: We invite interested juniors (and families) to come to campus and learn more about Dual Enrollment Academies. Dual Enrollment Academies are a significant time commitment and we strongly encourage students to attend an info night to get their questions answered and see if applying to a DEA is a good fit for them. Please RSVP here.

Options are: December 14th at MATC Mequon campus; January 18th at MATC Downtown

campus; Feb 1st at MATC Oak Creek campus.

Peer Tutoring: 10-12 and NGC

10-12 Building- Peer Tutoring is available on Tuesdays in room 162 and Thursdays in room 165 after school from 2:50pm-3:45pm in the 10-12 building. There are tutors available for English, science, math, social studies, foreign languages, and electives. Students from the NGC and 10-12 buildings are welcome! We are always looking for new tutors. Tutoring is a fulfilling and fun way to earn service hours! Please contact Mr. Dennis Raynor with questions ([email protected]).

NGC- We are excited to announce that Peer Tutoring will also be offered after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the NGC in Room 365 with Ms. Goodle. Our goal is to provide multiple options for students across both buildings.

OC Virtual and OCHS students are included in this list.

Quarter 1 22-23 Outstanding Knights

Doorway to College is offering a 2 day ACT test preparation class at Oak Creek High School on February 1 and February 2. This two day class goes from 3:15 p.m. - 5:45 p.m. The cost of the class is $95. Salvation Army Volunteer Opportunity

OCFSD Assistant Superintendent Dan Thielen serves on the Advisory Board of the Salvation Army and they are asking for some assistance. Their bell ringing volunteer numbers are down from past years, so donations received are down as well. Mr. Thielen is hoping you would give consideration to volunteering as well as getting the word out to staff, parents, etc. who would be willing to volunteer hours. This would also be a great opportunity for students to accumulate services hours for points toward a service cord at graduation. We know it's a busy time of the year for all, so any help is greatly appreciated! Interested parties click register to ring to sign up. Thanks for your regard.

Knight Skills

  • Students in 9th, 10th and 11th grade are continuing their Knight Skills lessons. This term these lessons are focusing on Emotion Regulation
  • Did you know?
  • Emotions only last 60-90 seconds? It’s our thoughts & interpretations about those experiences that make it feel as if those emotions last longer
  • Having a rich vocabulary regarding emotions helps us manage our emotions better (check out this feeling wheel!)
  • Our vulnerability factors may make it more difficult for us to to handle our emotions (e.g., being tired, hungry, stressed, etc.)
  • Emotions cause our physical sensations & urges
  • Accumulating positive experiences can help us decrease our vulnerability and increase positive emotions
  • Building mastery helps us build confidence, control, and competence
  • Coping ahead will make difficult situations easier to manage
  • When problem solving, it’s important to check the facts to make sure that we are interpreting the situation correctly and identify our goals to make sure what we are doing to solve the problem actually helps us reach our goals

OCHS Career Expo 2023

OCHS Career Expo 2023 will be held Thursday, January 5, 2023 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the large gym. Students in grades 9-12 are encouraged to attend this event. Representatives from local trades and area businesses will be available to share information about career pathways and answer questions

We need local businesses to help make this event impactful and engaging for students and their families. If you have connections with respected business leaders, please alert them to this opportunity and have them complete the attached google form (link below) to RSVP and confirm their commitment, by Friday, December 16th. Your help is essential as we continue to share the many options available to our students as they prepare for all future possibilities.
