Happy New Year!

As we roll our calendars over to January 2022, Oak Creek High School staff will work with students in grades 9-11 to register for ‘22-’23 classes during Knight's Advisory. Students will receive course descriptions and pertinent registration information in their Knight Advisory class February 1-11. Please take time to work with your child(ren) to align high school coursework selections with potential future career choices and interests. Course selections for students in grades 9-11 are due February 11, and students entering grade 9 are due January 14.

As always, thank you for your support.

FRESHMAN ORIENTATION/OPEN HOUSE and CAREER EXPO 2022

On Thursday, January 6, 2022, Oak Creek High School will host orientation for incoming freshmen, block scheduling information meetings for current freshmen, sophomores, and juniors, as well as a career exposition.

Incoming freshmen and their families are invited to attend an information meeting regarding course selection in the NGC gym.  There will be one presentation at 5:30 p.m. and one at 6:15 p.m.  Families can choose which presentation to attend, but we recommend last names beginning A-L attend the first presentation, and last names beginning M-Z attend the second presentation, if possible.  Families of incoming freshmen are invited to tour the Ninth Grade Center (NGC), talk with content teachers, and sign up for sports, clubs, and extracurricular activities during the timeframe of 5:30 to 7:30 as well.  Finally, families with students who are interested in the band program should attend an informational meeting at 6:45 in Room 321 in the NGC.

Block scheduling information meetings for current freshmen, sophomores, and juniors, will also be held in the OCHS cafeteria during the times listed below. Families are encouraged to attend. School counselors will share pertinent information related to course scheduling for the 2022-2023 school year.

Also taking place that evening is our annual Career Expo. This forum will provide all students the opportunity to interact with local business contacts, explore careers and educational pathways. This event will be held from 5:30-7:30 pm in the main gym.

Block Scheduling Information Meetings

  • Current Sophomores and Juniors:
  • 5:30 pm OR 6:00 pm
  • OCHS 10-12 cafeteria
  • Families can choose either session
  • Current Freshmen
  • 6:45 pm
  • OCHS 10-12 cafeteria

2022 Graduation Cap and Gown

Seniors, it is time to start thinking about your end-of-year graduation celebration. Our Jostens representative will be here to go over your options for ordering your cap and gown for graduation. Seniors will attend the presentation during their advisories on Wednesday, January 5th. Jostens will then return to take cap and gown orders during lunch/advisories on January 12th and January 13th. If students are not able to attend the presentation, they may stop in the office for information anytime after January 5th. You may order your graduation supplies online at Jostens Graduation Products if you are unable to make the two, in-person order days. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Stephan at 414-570-3843 or p.stephan@ocfsd.org.

Yearbook image.jpg

To be guaranteed a 2020-2021 yearbook, bring $60 (cash or check made out to OCHS) to the 10-12 building’s main office by Feb. 14. You can also purchase the yearbook through Infinite Campus (go to the FEES tab). If you do not order by Feb. 14, we will have a VERY limited number of yearbooks for sale at the end of the year. You are not *guaranteed* a yearbook unless you order by Feb. 14.

The ASVAB will be offered on February 2, 2022 from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Any student that is interested in taking the test can sign up for it in the Student Services office.

Peer Tutoring in the 10-12 building is available on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3pm to 3:45 pm. We have tutors to help with math, science, English, social studies, and foreign languages. New tutors are always welcome - it's a great way to earn service hours! Please email Mr. Raynor with questions at d.raynor@ocfsd.org

The ACT will be held on March 8th for ALL juniors. OCV students are required to attend in person to take the ACT. There will be no school for 10th and 12th grade students but 9th grade students will have school as usual.

Knight Skills

During December, students discussed decision-making as a method to tolerate distress.  This is important when students are faced with difficult situations (e.g., using substances at a party).  Students were instructed to identify the pros and cons of participating in a particular activity as well as the pros and cons of not participating in a particular activity.

Considering the pros and cons is important because students need to think about what would be in their best interest both now and in the future to help them reach their goals.
