spring image for May.jpg

As the weather gets warmer and the calendar flips to May, we are reminded that the end of the school year is nearing.  Although this can be a fun-filled and rewarding time, it can also be challenging.  In spite of the fact that there are extra-curricular, social, and  sporting events, summative testing and end of the year academic tasks also need to be completed.  Sometimes, it can be easy to allow events outside of school to become more important than the learning inside school.  Please continue to emphasize with your student(s) that persistence and perseverance by maintaining a scholastic focus is very important.

Thank you for your partnership!

National Honor Society

Congratulations to the sophomore and juniors who were selected to be part of the 2022-2023 National Honor Society! The NHS Induction Ceremony will take place on Tuesday, May 17 at 7PM at the Oak Creek Performing Arts and Education Center. On May 17th, NHS members should first report to the Choir Room (Room 260) at OCHS at 6:00pm. New! Teacher Aide Opportunities

Check here: New Teacher Aide Opportunities to find guidelines for the new 2022-2023 Teacher Aide, Educator Assistant and GO Time Aide opportunities for next school year.

New! Pre-Arranged Absence Forms

Student attendance is an important part of a student’s academic success. However, we do know that occasionally students will miss school for several consecutive days for family vacations, sports events, medical procedures, etc. In an effort to increase the communication of academic expectations during these extended absences, we are asking students to complete a pre-arranged absence form. Students can print the form or pick up a copy from the Main Office or Student Services Office. Once the family completes the top portion, students will then take this form to each of their teachers for signatures. The completed form is then turned into either office to be approved by Administration. Students will receive a copy of the completed form. Administrative approval of an absence does NOT necessarily excuse a student for the absence, it is just an acknowledgement that the student will not be at school. Wisconsin attendance laws are still in effect (10 days of excused absences per school year).

Yearbooks

We have a limited number of 2021-2022 yearbooks available for sale. Get yours before they disappear! Bring $60 (cash or credit card) to the 10-12 main office. Yearbooks will be distributed at the start of June.

2022 Graduation Raffle for "VIP" Front Row Seats

If you are planning on attending the 2022 graduation in June at AMFAM Field and would like the chance to win front row "VIP" seats for you and your guests, now is your chance! The 2022 Senior Class Officers are holding a raffle with all proceeds going toward the senior class gift. The raffle tickets can be purchased in the office and will cost $20.00 each or 2 tickets for $30.00 (cash or check only). The raffle will begin on Tuesday, April 19th, and will run through Tuesday, May 17th. There will be two winning raffle tickets. The winners will be announced/contacted on Friday, May 20th. Please note that we may only accommodate the two raffle winners for the number of graduation tickets that were purchased/ordered on or before April 14th, which is the ticket order deadline.

2022 Graduation Information

PLACE/TIME

Graduation is scheduled for Saturday, June 11, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. and will be held at American Family Field, One Brewers Way, Milwaukee.

TICKETS

Tickets will be distributed at a senior assembly on Wednesday, May 18 during your child’s Knight’s Advisory (11:10 a.m. thru 12:55 p.m.). If your child is unable to attend the assembly he/she must stop at the 9th Grade Center to pick them up any time after the assembly. Tickets will not be mailed home. Graduation is by ticket only. If you need additional tickets they can be purchased on or after May 18. The tickets will cost $8.00 each and need to be paid for in cash. There are a limited number of additional tickets for purchase so it is on a first come first serve basis.

HONOR CORDS AND COWLS

If you are receiving an honor cord or cowl you will be able to pick them up during the ticket handout on Wednesday, May 18th in the gym. If you are unable to attend at this time, you may stop by the high school office to pick up these items.

PARKING

Parking for graduation is free and located in the “Preferred Parking” area. You may park in the Aaron, Thomas, Fingers, Money, Brewers 1, Braves 1, and Braves 2 lots. There will be parking attendants to assist you when you enter the parking lot. If any family members or guests are elderly, handicapped, or in need of additional help, please notify the parking attendant when you enter so you can be directed to the designated drop-off area. Parking lots will open 90 minutes prior to the graduation start time.

ARRIVAL TIME

Graduating seniors must arrive at American Family Field by 9:00 am. Graduates should enter through the Right Field Gate. Families and guests should enter through the “Home Plate” and Third Base Gate areas. The gates will be open for guests at 9:00 a.m. Graduation begins promptly at 10:00 a.m. The graduation ceremony will last roughly two and a half hours.

GATE POLICIES TO ENTER

Gate policies are strictly enforced and aligned with Game Day rules. Bags larger than 9”x 5”x 2” and any multi-zip or multi-compartment bags are not permitted. Exceptions will be made for diaper and ADA medical bags. No carry-in food or snacks are allowed. Guests can bring in a factory-sealed, unopened, plastic bottle of water. Balloons are prohibited and will need to be returned to your vehicle.

PHOTOGRAPHY

Empire Photography will be taking professional pictures of each graduating senior as they receive their diploma. The photographer will email picture proofs with directions to place an order. Please ensure your email address is accurate and updated in Infinite Campus.

DRESS

The graduation ceremony is traditional by nature and we request those traditions be respected. Graduates are required to wear a cap and gown with no decoration added to either. Additional adornments may not be worn on the cap or gown except school distributed N.H.S., Top 10%, Leadership, Service, Outstanding Knights, and AP Honor Art Cords; N.H.S. cowls; officer stoles; military stoles and Valedictorian and Salutatorian medals. Flowers may not be worn.

Graduates will be walking on the actual playing field so footwear should be appropriate. The Brewers have requested that NO high heels be worn by the graduates. Graduates and guests should dress according to the weather as the stadium is not heated or cooled.

FEES/FINES/OBLIGATIONS

Ensure that all fines or fees are paid before graduation. If you have any questions, please contact the bookkeeper, Mrs. Connors (414) 768-6126. The actual diplomas will be distributed after the graduation ceremony, but only when obligations have been satisfied. Students with outstanding fines/fees will not receive their diploma; they will receive an invoice indicating the balance owed.  The diplomas will be available in the school office when the outstanding fines/fees have been paid.

2022 SENIOR CLASS BREAKFAST

The senior breakfast will be held on Thursday, June 9th in the cafeteria from 7:30 to 8:45 am. The senior breakfast is free and will provide students the time to join together one last time as a class and sign yearbooks.

MANDATORY GRADUATION PRACTICE

Graduation practice begins promptly at 8:45 a.m. immediately after breakfast on Thursday, June 9th in the cafeteria.  This is the only practice, so it is extremely important that all students be present to avoid confusion on graduation day. Practice is mandatory and usually is concluded before 10:30 a.m.

EARLY DISMISSAL FOR GRADUATES

All seniors will be dismissed for the day following the graduation practice. They will not be able to enter the high school for the remainder of the school day so all school business should be conducted before June 9th.

If you have any questions, please call Ms. Stephan at (414) 570-3843. We look forward to a memorable graduation ceremony.
