A Message from the Administrative Team

Dear Oak Creek High School Parents/Guardians,

As the first quarter comes to an end, so do Fall sports and activities. Students are encouraged to get involved in at least one activity during the cold winter months. Studies show a correlation between students who involve themselves in their school community and an increase in grade point average. Students are also reminded to set quarter two goals as grades become finalized in January. Achieving personal goals and developing personal academic skills will not only assist students while they are in high school, but also better prepare them for later success in college and/or career endeavors.

Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.

In partnership,

OCHS Administrative Team

Greetings from the NGC.  We are full swing into learning and growth, both academically and socially!  We hope that all students enjoyed their fall sports seasons, have joined some clubs and activities, and had fun at their first high school Homecoming!  As we begin the second quarter of the semester, we will be reinforcing the importance of active participation in all classes, keeping current with daily and long-term assignments, as well as consistent attendance as possible in light of the pandemic.  Moreover, we are working to impress upon students the importance of getting to class on time, keeping cell phones out of sight, out of mind, and demonstrating mature and responsible behavior in classrooms, restrooms, hallways, and the cafeteria.  If students are looking for extra help with classwork, there is a tutoring lab open after school on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m.  Drop into room 364 to take advantage of this opportunity.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out to our NGC leadership team with any questions or concerns.

Ted Lambrukos, Dean

Jayme Kempf, Counselor

Emelie Tregellas, School Psychologist

Julia Korban, Social Worker

The deadline for an AP student to change their test order is Friday, November 12. Students must inform their classroom teacher if they want to make a change.

Any changes made after November 12, will incur a $40 fee issued by the College Board and added to a students' Infinite Campus account.

Knight Skills

During the month of October, students learned:

  • That making decisions with their “emotional mind” often excludes using their “reasonable mind.”  Using one mind without the other leads to problems because they are either making decisions based on emotions without logic or logic without emotions.  Students need to make decisions from their “wise mind” - balancing emotions and acting in a rational manner.
  • Mindfulness - being in the present moment and not worrying about what was or what could be helps students be in control of their minds rather than their minds being in control of them.
  • Mindfulness can reduce suffering, make students more productive, improve health, and increase compassion for self and others.
  • That while it is easy to pay attention to negative/uncomfortable feelings, it is important to take the time to pay attention (i.e., be mindful of) their positive/comfortable feelings.
  • Being tired, hungry, ill, stressed or under the influence of drugs or alcohol increases the likelihood that they will be using their emotion mind
  • Reasonable mind sometimes is devoid of emotions - often ignoring how others may feel.
  • To understand the difference between the three minds, watch this video!
  • All emotions serve purpose and if students are mindful of  all of their emotions, they can make better decisions regarding what they want and need and how to meet their goals.

We have become aware of a nationwide TikTok challenge potentially affecting the health and safety of students and school employees. The challenge calls for specific aggressive, violent and hateful actions to take place during the months of the year.

It is important to note that many of these challenges are illegal. We must all try to ensure our school environment is safe. Please continue to have discussions as a family.

The TikTok challenge includes the following monthly actions:

September- vandalize school bathrooms

October- hit a staff member

November- kiss your friend's girlfriend at school

December- Deck the Halls and show your b****

January- jab a breast

February- vandalize school signs

March- vandalize the school's courtyard or cafeteria

April- grab some eggs

May- ditch day

June- flip out in the school office

July- spray paint a neighbor's fence

Yearbooks capture memories.  Flip through the pages and you can reminisce about dressing up for homecoming week, winning State with the band, triumphing at the Robotics competition, and celebrating other milestones throughout the year.  Don’t miss out on your opportunity to relive the best of 2021-2022. Order a yearbook by bringing $60 to the main office (credit card, cash, or a check made out to Oak Creek High School) or by purchasing it through Infinite Campus (go to the “Fees” tab).
