Happy October! Fall is in the air! Homecoming Week went extremely well. Students enjoyed theme days, the parade, powder puff and football games, pep assembly, and the 2022 Homecoming Dance.

Please do not forget about our in-person Parent Teacher Conference evening that will take place Thursday, October 6, from 4-7:00 p.m. All 9-12 grade teachers will be alphabetically placed by last name in the main gym and cafeteria. Please print your student’s schedule from Infinite Campus or have it available on your phone to locate teacher names. Plan to spend 5 minutes with each teacher, as there will more than likely be other families waiting their turn. If you need more time, you can always request an additional Google Meet or in-person meeting, if necessary.

We look forward to seeing you,

National Merit Scholarship Commended Student

OCFSD is celebrating Genevieve Weisensel who has been named a 2023 National Merit Scholarship Commended Student.

OCHS Senior Genevieve Weisensel is being nationally recognized for her exceptional academic promise as a 2023 Commended Student. Although she will not continue in the 2023 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 students who entered the competition by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

"We are so proud of Genevieve for her passion and dedication to her learning," OCHS Principal Candis Mongan said. "To be recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Program is an outstanding accomplishment and is the direct result of the hard work that this student has put in over the course of her high school career. We know this is only the beginning of great things ahead!"

''This student represents a valuable national resource; recognizing her accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation," a spokesperson for NMSC said.

Congratulations, Genevieve! We are so proud of you!
