A Message From Our Directors

This month is Black History Month, and we would like to acknowledge the many Black Americans who have contributed to the field of mental health, including Dr. Mamie Phipps Clark and Dr. Kenneth Bancroft Clark (their "doll studies" showed the impact of racism and segregation on children), Dr. Paul Bertau Cornely (his work served to reduce health disparities among the underserved), Dr. Harriette Pipes McAdoo (her studies challenged stereotypes about Black families) and Dr. Francis Cecil Sumner, who is widely considered the "Father of Black Psychology". There are many others who have made contributions, and we encourage you to learn more about these pioneers in mental health.

Friday, February 21st is National Caregivers Day. We would like to share our gratitude for the caregivers in our community who do so much for their friends, family, and neighbors. The Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities offers resources and programs for local caregivers including workshops and information about the Family Caregivers Service Program.

If you are in crisis and need help, our Warmline is open 24/7 at 410-768-5522.
