At Northeastern University, I immediately noticed how lively, diverse, and active the campus felt. The tour guide explained the school’s strong focus on experiential learning and co-op programs, which allow students to gain real work experience while still studying. I also learned that Northeastern supports creativity and innovation. I saw spaces where students design and create projects, including costumes. One student had created a Spider-Man costume, and it was inspiring to see how creativity is welcomed, encouraged, and explored on campus. I also found it interesting that students can take on leadership roles, including entrepreneurial opportunities like student-led initiatives.
When we visited Wentworth Institute of Technology, the environment felt more specialized and career-focused. I learned that Wentworth emphasizes hands-on learning, especially in technical and professional fields. The smaller campus felt more close-knit, and I could see how students might receive more individualized attention and practical experience.
This visit helped me better understand the differences between universities and how each school supports students in unique ways. Northeastern stood out to me because of its co-op program, global opportunities, and vibrant urban campus, while Wentworth impressed me with its hands-on education, strong career preparation, and collaborative academic environment.
Overall, this experience was extremely valuable because it allowed me to visualize myself in a real college setting and think more seriously about my academic and career goals. It also helped me understand the importance of visiting colleges in person. Seeing the campuses firsthand made the experience more real and informative, and it encouraged me to continue attending college tours in the future to make the best decision for my education.
