Check Out Our Newest School Videos!

We're excited to announce that MC's latest series of professional videos has been released!

Click here to watch the two videos, one that focuses on the School for Boys and another that looks ahead to the upcoming launch of the School for Girls this fall. The videos feature professional footage and interviews with students, faculty, administration, and other members of the MC community, shot at Malden Catholic over the course of the fall semester. We are especially grateful to the Mineo family (sons Billy and Stephen and daughter Lily) for providing us with three generations worth of interviews.  Please share with friends and prospective families!

From the Principal's Desk...  Br. Thomas Puccio CFX

Dear Families,

Good day to you.  Well, to those of us who have "exercise" on our lists of New Year interests, yesterday's weather has given us a great start with plenty of shoveling to do!  Happy New Year, New England style!  I hope that you and family enjoyed a blessed Christmas and are looking toward a promising new year.  Though much of our building was quiet over the holidays, our athletes were on hand for practices and competitions, our staff busy about many things, and the renovations for our Girls School moved along right on schedule for mid-February completion.

Wonderful things were happening, too, off-campus during the break, with about 16 of our students and 4 of our faculty engaged in Habitat-for-Humanity builds in Dorchester.  Thanks to Mrs. Jeanne Lynch-Galvin (Math) for advising our Habitat Chapter this year, and to Mr. Eammon Casey (Theology), Mr. Robert Bucchino (Assistant Principal), and Mr. Eric Surat (Theology) for braving the cold and accompaying students on the recent builds.

Before Christmas, the generosity of many helped to bring some Christmas joy to those children who received gifts from our Lancer Toy Drive. Thanks to our Campus Ministry, Student Council, National Honor Society, our Malden Catholic Alumni Association, our students, and you for great expressions of care!

We are just two weeks now from the end of our 2nd Academic Quarter.  Please check with your son that he is on track for a successful completion.  Remind him, please, that on snow "holidays" like those we just had, teachers often assign work in advance, that there's usually reading to be done, and that a few hours a day to study or review material are a good idea!  Both on these occasions and more routinely, I hope that you might make use of LancerLink to access information about your son's assignments and progress, especially noting to him where he may have missed assignments.  Your positive encouragement can go a long way in keeping him from a mid-winter slump after start-of-school fervor may have diminished.  We'll plan to do the same.
By early February, students will begin their course-selection process for next year, and our hope is always that they are building strong academic foundations for the future.

Tomorrow, 20 of our young men along with  Campus Ministers Mrs. Mary Driscoll and Mr. Michael Driscoll will depart for our week-long Jamaican Mission Trip.  Please join me in praying for their safe and successful travel. They'll be doing wonderful work with some of the poorest of the poor. If last year's trip is any indication, they'll return enriched in life-changing ways.

I hope to see some of you at next week's Malden Catholic Lancers Association parent club meeting, Thursday at 7:00 PM, where we will have conversation about the important support roles you, our parents, can play in MC's vitality - boys and girls!

Wishing you blessings today and through the New Year,

Brother Thomas Puccio, C.F.X., Ed.D.

The MC community asks you to join us as we pray for the success of this year's student immersion trip to Jamaica, January 6th-13th, 2018. 20 MC seniors and juniors will live, work, and pray alongside members of a rural Jamaican community just oustide of Montego Bay. Their primary service responsibilities center around Mizpah Primary School, where they will continue last year's work of refurbishment, beautification, and 1:1 classroom support. We wish our young men blessings on their journey and a safe return home. Check back here and on social media for updates in the weeks to come!
