BRMT Part 1 and 2 for Professionals and parents working with Exceptional Children

Beginning at 4 weeks, an infant is able to lift her head when lying on the stomach.  At about two months, she can then lift her chest when the head is raised.  At four months, the infant starts to raise her legs while lifting the head and chest.  These are all developmental stages for integrating the Landau Reflex.  Around the age of 3, the Landau Reflex should be fully integrated when the child is on the stomach and can lift her head while keeping the legs on the floor. This ability develops the gross motor cooperation and coordination between the top and bottom, and front and back of the body system.

The Landau is important for the integration of the TLR forward and helps to increase muscle tone in the back and neck in a prone position. When the infant is able to lift his chest from the bed, his arms become free so he can grasp things and bring them to his mouth. This helps with the development of near vision. The lifting of his head and chest also gives him a general view of the environment and opportunity to practice his three dimensional vision.

If the Landau does not develop properly the TLR will not integrate. The child will have low muscle tone especially in the neck and back and will have difficulties raising his head and chest in prone position. There will be problems doing the breaststroke.

If the Landau is developed but not integrated, the child may be clumsy in the lower part of the body and may have tense legs extended backward. An efficient co-operation between the upper and the lower part of the body will be difficult, since the legs are extended when the head is bent backward. If the Landau reflex is not integrated, it may obstruct the integration of the Spinal Galant reflex.

Some symptoms of a nonintegrated

Landau Reflex
  • Challenges keeping head upright; supporting straight body posture; ability to sit upright
  • Low muscle tone, especially in the neck and back
  • Lack of cooperation between upper and lower body
  • Difficulty with attention and concentration
  • Tension in the legs
  • locked and over-extended knee joints when standing predisposing a person to pain and osteoarthritis in the knee joints
  • In children there may be a tendency to toe walk
  • In adults there may be taut, tight Achilles tendons
  • Problems with vision, specifically near and three dimensional visions
  • In depressed adults, the reflex is generally not integrated.
  • The Landau links body posture with emotions of joy and happiness.

Upcoming Courses in BRMT
Must have attended at least a level 1 to attend Dr. Blomberg's classes in Naperville in July

Upcoming Dates:

BRMT Level 1 RMT and Primitive Reflexes

May 16-17 Kent, Ohio

June 2-3, Naperville, IL

June 12-13, Naperville, IL

In this 2-day course participants learn the basics of the rhythmic movement training: how rhythmic exercises can be utilized to regulate muscle tone, stimulate the brain in order to improve attention and control of impulses and to diminish hyperactivity. The course also includes a survey of the most important primitive reflexes in ADHD and how to integrate them with rhythmic exercises.

No previous knowledge required

BRMT Level 2 RMT and the Limbic System, Emotions and Inner Leadership

June 15-16, Naperville, IL

In this 2 day course participants will explore the so-called stress reflexes that affect our emotions, namely the Fear Paralysis, Moro, Tendon Guard and Spinal Pereze reflexes.  We will examine the behaviors, and psychological effects these reflexes have when they are active and how BRMT can alleviate those symptoms to enabling us to get in touch with our emotions and stabilize them.  This is a wonderful course for those who work with children who are challenged with emotional regulation.

BRMT Level 3 RMT for Reading, Writing and Dyslexia

May 6-7, Naperville, IL

This 2-day course deals with how our reading and writing ability is affected by various factors such as vision, articulation and motor ability. We learn how to test non integrated primitive reflexes and recognize other motor disabilities that are important for dyslexia and how to improve reading and writing ability by correcting these problems with rhythmic exercises and reflex integration exercises.

Special importance is attached to vision and learning how to recognize visual problems and improve vision by various exercises.

Previous knowledge required: BRMT level 1
Also recommended: BRMT level 2

BRMT for Adults, Allied Health Care and Health Care Professionals Part 1

June 26-27, Naperville, IL

This 2-day course is appropriate to professionals who work with muscle and joint pain and people who want to work with their own challenges. The course teaches how to test for primitive reflexes that may cause a rotated pelvis or muscle tensions, pain and osteoarthritis in the neck, shoulders, back and hips. The participants will learn how to use simple rhythmic exercises and reflex integration exercises to achieve a more lasting improvement.

Dr. Blomberg's July tour

BRMT for Adults, Allied Health Care and Health Care Professionals Part 2

July 11-12, Naperville, IL

This 2-day course is a continuation of the Part one and uses additional reflexes and isometric techniques for professionals who work with muscle and joint pain and people who want to work with their own challenges.  The participants will learn how to use simple rhythmic exercises and reflex integration exercises to achieve a more lasting improvement and relief from pain.

BRMT and Diet in ADD/HD and Autism

as well as other behavioral and health challenges

July 14-15, Naperville, IL

This 2-day course deals with the great importance of diet and food supplements when working with rhythmic movements, not only in autism. In ADHD, dyslexia and motor problems food intolerance is becoming more and more common and may interfere with the training. This course teaches how to test for food intolerance and also for food supplements the child may need. The course also deals with primitive reflexes which are especially common in autism and how to conduct the training with children suffering from autism and ADD.

No previous knowledge required

Recommended is experience of muscle testing
