Updates on Parks and Trails
Parks Operations has moved 50 trees from the Prosper Tree Farm to Hackberry Park. Here's how: A tree spade was used to dig out each tree. After removal from the ground, each tree is placed inside a wire basket lined with burlap. The burlap holds the soil in place with the roots; the basket supports the entire rootball to keep the soil from breaking the burlap covering. The tree spade is then removed from the skid steer and a forklift employed to lift the tree. Trees were loaded onto trailers and transported to Hackberry Park for installation.

If you’ve visited this beautiful 6.7 acre neighborhood park located at 842 Lavender Drive, you’ve most likely experienced the fun western-themed playground with a stagecoach, tractor, cow, and horses. The park's finishing touches are now complete with the addition of a large pavilion, basketball courts, picnic tables, benches, and additional landscaping.

Developments to Watch
NW corner of First Street and Coit Road: Town Council has approved proceeding with interim use of the former Sexton property until the initial phase of park construction can begin. Parks and Recreation will be creating pathways for pedestrians to explore the rolling terrain within the park. This mown trail will provide a meandering nature experience and access to tree lines and ponds. A small gravel parking lot and trail head have been installed off of Coit Road for easy access. For a preview of final park plans, please view the Master Plan.
Intersection of Star Meadow Drive and Star Trail Parkway: Construction is slated to begin on Star Meadow Park in 2022. Park amenities are set to include a playground, pavilion, basketball court, hike and bike trails, a backstop, wooded areas, and open space.
