2022 EXHIBIT HIGHLIGHTS AT CITY LIGHTS GALLERY

Absorption and Reflection

The year began with an exhibit featuring 3 artists/friends, lead artist Larry Morse, designed an exhibit that featured longtime friend, renowned artist Adger Cowans and artist/storyteller Iyaba Ibo Mandingo.

18 Artists

City Lights executive director/curator, Suzanne Kachmar selected 18 artists for the anniversary exhibit that marked the 18 years that City Lights sustained a downtown arts venue.

POSTER ART BY INNA LINOV SUPPORTS THE PEOPLE OF THE UKRAINE

Ukrainian born, CT artist Inna Linov began making these poster designs in February when the invasion began. She sells prints, ($55 each) to support the people of the Ukraine.

PROGRAMS FOR YOUTH

The nonprofit City Lights & Company has provided free arts programs that enrich the learning experience and broaden horizons for over 10 yrs. 2022 summer projects included a 23' long mural and 2 fieldtrips. 100 youth and chaperones attended 2 New York city productions,

STOMP" and the "LION KING."

CITY LIGHTS VINTAGE

City Lights Vintage had another successful year. 50% off holiday sale continues to January 13, 2023.

COLLABORATIONS WITH COMMUNITY PARTNERS

BRIDGEPORT FILM FEST


The City Lights & Company nonprofit organization continues to support new initiatives, collaborate with other partners, individuals. Work opportunities, sales and referrals in 2022 totaled over $125,000.

CL/BAT looks forward to another year working with Jason Coombs, founder and director of the Bridgeport Film Fest, serving as the fiduciary for the BFF, as the project approaches its 3rd year.

The BFF team also initiated "CRABBY CABARET" planning their next for 2/10/23 at the Bijou Theatre.

PUBLIC ART


City Lights often provides input and helps design community projects, liaising with art and non-art partners, offering its expertise in the arts and dot connecting. City Lights executive director and board members helped to initiate the Bridgeport Public Art Fund with Phillip Kuchma as the chairperson. City Lights collaborated on 5 public art projects with various partners throughout the year, including a street piano and a canopy light installation. Mural above by ES, Yovan Barraza.


STORYTELLING AND PECHAKUCHA

The City Lights/Bridgeport Art Trail team collaborates with the Barnum Museum, Storyteller Nina Lesiga and Colorful Bridgeport to present Pechakucha a series of unique stories and images,

THE BAT

Popular storyteller Nina Lesiga runs the Bridgeport Art Trail online storytelling exchange, the first Thursday of every month. Join her on Jan 7, 2023, 7-9pm.

BRIDGEPORT ART TRAIL

The Bridgeport Art Trail marked its 14th annual city-wide open

studios arts celebration weekend.

GREATER BRIDGEPORT PRIDE

The 12th annual Greater Bridgeport Pride Celebration included the OUTWork exhibit featuring 30 artists. NY's Gotham Cheer helped to create the party energy with honorary Pride March marshal, Bridgeport's Daivd Correa, director of entertainment for NY City Pride. 2023 BPT Pride plans begin in February, interested artists, volunteers, sponsors and participants please contact us at [email protected].
