Foundation for SPS awards $195,600 to SPS classrooms
47 schools received a total of 96 grants, funding $195,600 for SPS educators.

“We are so excited to be able to have volunteers with us again to share the excitement about Back to School Grants,” said Executive Director Natalie Murdock. “Our educators go above and beyond for their students and, thanks to our donors, they are able to help bridge gaps in the classroom through their grant.”

In the Diploma Programme, seniors are challenged to think critically and examine the world around them. But the exhibition featuring written papers is just one part of that senior year experience, said Molly Gray, coordinator of DP.
SPS AgAcademy set to open
in spring 2022
Springfield Public Schools’ newest magnet school, the AgAcademy, will finish construction in spring 2022. The new program will be housed in an innovative learning space where 100 fourth- and fifth-graders will spend the 2022-2023 school year. 
Honor choir competition selects vocalists for choirs
Many SPS students qualified among the top 25 students on their voice part and qualified to compete again to be named a Missouri All-State Choral Musician. Students chosen for the honor choirs will take part in a festival on Nov. 6 that will culminate in a free, public performance at Central High School.

“Our Hillcrest PLTW Engineering Program is working to connect students to high skill, high demand careers in the Springfield community, and this grant will help us best equip our classrooms, students and teachers."

Project Lead the Way team awarded John Deere Engineering Expansion Grant

The Project Lead The Way team from Hillcrest High School was awarded the 2021 John Deere Engineering Expansion Grant. This $10,000 grant is awarded to one Missouri school each year.
Free flu clinics available for students

SPS, with support from CoxHealth, Mercy, and Springfield-Greene County Health Department, is offering the seasonal flu vaccine to any student free of charge, as supply allows. Flu vaccine clinics will be held at each school site.
