The historic Kingston City Almshouse, a remarkable example of the Italianate style of architecture, has recently reopened as Landmark Place. Originally constructed in 1874, the rehabilitated 14-acre campus provides affordable housing with supportive services for seniors in the historic buildings, as well as in a new building that was constructed on site.
The developer, RUPCO, and architects, Dutton Architecture, worked closely with sustainability consultants to maximize energy efficiency in the historic rehabilitation and to meet NYSERDA Energy Star Standards and Enterprise Green Community Standards in the new construction.
