SPS commissions Springfield School Police Department
At a special Oath of Office ceremony, 25 officers were commissioned Feb. 28 by Board of Education President Dr. Alina Lehnert.

Previously, SSPD officers were commissioned by the Greene County Sheriff's Office, with an agreement set to end on March 1. With this change, SPS will commission its own officers in a more streamlined process, allowing the SSPD to better serve students and staff.
All-School Art Exhibition opens
Friday, March 4
Every March, the Springfield Art Museum invites SPS students in grades K-12 to exhibit outstanding artwork in the All-School Exhibition. A celebration of Youth Art Month, this highly anticipated show started in 1932, making it Springfield's longest running art exhibition initiative.
An update on masking at SPS
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has updated COVID-19 guidance related to masking. This includes the removal of a mandate for school district transportation and establishing optional masking for counties that have low or medium levels of COVID-19 spread. Greene County is currently classified as a “medium” level.

In response, masking on school buses is now optional. Masks are also optional for students, staff and visitors at all district facilities.
Kindergarten registration events going on now at SPS
The first day of kindergarten is an important day in a child’s life. That’s why at SPS, teachers, early childhood educators and families partner to help students prepare for August. Each elementary school will host a kindergarten registration.
