May is Mental Health Awareness Month

Raise Awareness, Fight Stigma, and Advocate for Systemic Change

May is Mental Health Awareness Month - and it's time to shine a light on the often-overlooked intersection of homelessness and mental illness.

Roughly 1 in 3 people experiencing homelessness live with a serious mental illness (e.g. schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, etc.), while two-thirds of unhoused individuals report a mental health disorder (e.g. depression, anxiety, etc.).

Housing IS mental healthcare.

Follow CCEH on our social media channels and join us in raising awareness, fighting stigma, and advocating for systemic change.

Thanks to YOU - our soup-loving, community-caring, raffle-ticket buying champions - SouperFest was a smashing success! With every bowl you enjoyed and every raffle ticket you grabbed, along with our amazing event and annual sponsors, you helped raise $27,000 to support CCEH's mission.

There is a lot of work that goes on at CCEH in our three programs! Each month, we'll try and share what we've been up to, what we've accomplished, and some highlights from our programs.

Resource Center

Average number of people seen per day in March: 50

The Resource Center is now open for afternoon drop in hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays year-round! New drop in hours: Monday through Friday, 9am - 11:30am; Tuesdays and Thursdays 1pm - 4pm.

As the weather begins to warm and the leaves start growing back, our needs at the Resource Center change.

Take a Progress Tour of 6 South State Street

No hard hat required, take a guided tour of 6 South State Street and see how construction is going!

Former CCEH COO and current volunteer extraordinaire Mark Fagan gives you an inside peek at a few of the apartments. Now that walls are up, you can let your imagination run wild with the possibilities for these beautiful units that will soon become home to individuals exiting homelessness.

Stay tuned over the summer as we "come home" to 6 South State Street, and see the transformation take place.
