Response to President Trump's Executive Order on Homelessness

CCEH is extremely concerned, and many questions remain

Last week, the White House issued a new Executive Order, "Ending Crime and Disorder on America's Streets." While the order is aimed at making it easier for cities and states to remove homeless people from the streets, advocates and agencies claim this order will actually make homelessness worse.

South State Street is Nearly Finished!

After nearly eight months of hard work, perseverance, and patience, our South State Street development project is nearing completion. While the construction team is working on buttoning up their final lists, and landscaping work is being completed, the CCEH team is working diligently with a select group of clients to assist them with the process of applying for this housing opportunity and preparing them for the move-in process.

Potential South State Street residents must complete NH Housing's rigorous application process, and they must successfully complete CCEH's "Intent to Rent" rent-readiness program. CCEH carefully assesses each prospective tenant for their needs and barriers, and works with prospective tenants on their Housing Stability plans to ensure everyone has a roadmap to success once housed.

While move-in day is approaching, the work doesn't end when our tenants receive their keys. Supportive Housing is an on-going, intensive process, and the first 90 days can be especially challenging for newly housed clients. Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks about South State Street's opening and ribbon cutting event!

Adopt-A-Home: Transform a Space. Change a Life.

CCEH is seeking four businesses, groups, or organizations to be a part of a powerful initiative. By adopting an apartment at South State Street for someone transitioning out of homelessness, you help furnish, decorate, and create a welcoming home - providing hope, dignity, and a fresh start.

Team-building with a purpose. Tangible impact. Brand recognition. Be a part of the long-term solution to homelessness.

Did You Know?

New Hampshire is the 12th most expensive state to rent housing, and Granite Staters must make about $27 an hour to comfortably afford a market-rate one-bedroom apartment, according to a report from the National Low Income Housing Coalition.

In NH, fair market rent for a one-bedroom is now $1,401 per month, the report notes. That requires about $56,026 per year to afford that rent, above the median income for one person in NH of $46,197. Working 40 hours per week would require one person to make about $27 per hour, and wage data indicates that people in many industries make less than that, the report continues. Fast-food workers make a median hourly wage of $14.84, home health aides make $17.91, and retail salespeople make $17.34.
