CJCS Foundation Newsletter
Community. Connection. Care.
On April 25, we welcomed friends, supporters, and participants back into the Cummings Centre for a Grand Re-Opening Day! It was quite exhilarating to be amongst such positive energy, and to witness, once again, the profound impact that the Centre has on our seniors. Although in-person classes are only at 20% capacity, we felt 100% happy to be back!

The CJCS Foundation is looking forward to getting back in the game live and in-person on June 12th at our 18th annual Sports Celebrity Breakfast, for what is scheduled to be a fantastic day in support of seniors in crisis.

We'd also like to extend our gratitude to everyone who purchased cards and donated to the Passover Mitzvah Meal Program. With your generosity, we were able to ensure that vulnerable and socially isolated seniors were provided with a nutritious meal, and felt that they were cared for.

Thank you!
Donor Spotlight: Sandi and Clifford Tate
We are grateful to Sandi and Clifford Tate for choosing to support the Cummings Centre by creating the Morris and Ruth Maclan Activity Room. This room will be used for intake and assessments when seniors arrive to our fitness facility, a much-needed space. Thank you to the Tate family for their commitment to making a difference in the lives of countless seniors!
"Each year we try to choose a different, special project to support. In early 2021 my Mother passed away from Covid at 95 years old. This tragic event caused us to pause to understand the difficulties that Covid had caused to all seniors. From suffering isolation and physical difficulties, to death, seniors were the most affected group. Wanting to improve the current lives of seniors in a positive way we chose the wonderful work of The Cummings Jewish Center for Seniors as our special project."

A Heartfelt Thank You!
We are proud to announce that the Sports Celebrity Breakfast is SOLD OUT!

A heartfelt thank you goes to our two incredible Sports Celebrity Breakfast co-chairs Mike Wagen and Bram Naimer, and Honourary Chair Cookie Lazarus as well as our faithful committee members for their undeniable energy, passion, and dedication to this event. It is through their hard work that all of this is possible. It takes a strong team to produce an event of this magnitude and we are very lucky to have one. Even though all meetings took place on zoom, we definitely felt the excitement of the entire committee in bringing this event back to reality!

All funds raised at this pinnacle event will help 'Seniors in Crisis' in our community.

Thank you to our sponsors, donors, and supporters for making a difference

Cummings Centre Virtual Bereavement Group Participant

"Meeting as a group, with the same loneliness of losing our husbands, and with Rosanna's 'help in speaking openly about our feelings, she made us feel we were not alone. We were able to share our feelings with her guidance, and understand how to move forward positively by appreciating the good we shared as a couple and look for new interests for a different but positive future. Rosanna is a listener and that's so important when you have many empty times alone."

This is the power of the Centre, this is the power of community,
this is the power of giving back.
There are countless ways to give back to our community and ensure our seniors receive the care, the compassion, and the help they need to thrive.
Please donate to the Cummings Jewish Centre for Seniors Foundation today.
