Journey Towards Freedom Sermon Series
We all struggle with something. For some it may be alcohol or substances. For others it may be anxiety, control, workaholism, perfectionism, materialism, resentment, food, screen-time, approval, or patterns we cannot seem to break. In this seven-week series inspired by John Ortberg’s Steps, we will explore how the wisdom of the Twelve Steps offers a deeply biblical pathway toward healing, freedom, honesty, and transformation. Through worship, Scripture, testimony, and small groups, we will discover that spiritual growth begins not with pretending we are strong, but with admitting our need for God’s grace. Together we will learn how freedom comes one step at a time.

Oct 4th: Journey Towards Freedom: Ready for Change (Steps 6-7), Matthew 5:3; Philippians 2:12-13
Many of us want relief without transformation. We want our circumstances to change, but are we ready for God to change us? This week, we explore what it means to become willing to let go of the attitudes, habits, and patterns that keep us stuck, allowing God to reshape our hearts and desires. Through the words of Jesus and Paul, we discover that true change begins with humility and a willingness to cooperate with God's transforming grace. As we celebrate World Communion Sunday, we gather at Christ's table with Christians around the world, reminded that God's grace meets us where we are, but lovingly invites us into something new. Freedom isn't just about feeling better; it's about becoming different through the grace of God.
Oct 11th: Repairing What Was Broken (Steps 8-9), Luke 19:1-10; Colossians 3:12-15
Oct 25th: Give It Away (Step 12), Galatians 6:1-2; Matthew 5:14-16

Children and Youth Ministry & First Sundays
This fall, Youth Group will be for students in 7th–12th grade, and 6th graders will be part of our 3rd–6th grade KICKstart group.
Our ministry groups will be:
● K4–2nd Grade: KICKstart
● 3rd–6th Grade: KICKstart
● 7th–12th Grade: Youth Ministry
This structure will help balance our ministry age groups so we can provide activities, lessons, and discussions that are better suited to all ages. Starting Youth Group in 7th grade also creates a natural transition into a big faith milestone, Confirmation, which starts in 7th.
Our goal is for every child and youth to have a place where they feel they belong, build relationships, and grow in faith.
On the first Sunday of the month, we invite children in 3rd grade and older to stay in worship and share Communion with their families and the church community. K4–2nd grade will have KICKstart Sunday School. Families are welcome to choose that option for an older child when it is a better fit

October Mission Focus:
Midwest Missions
In order to achieve our goal of being recognized as a Mosaic Covenant Church we need to support a “National Advance Project” which is the green color in the mosaic. We have picked Midwest Mission as our project.
“Midwest Mission” is one of 7 organizations used by the “United Methodist Committee on Relief” (UMCOR) to organize and distribute needed supplies to people who suffer poverty or who have suffered a disaster. MM emphasizes four main areas it prioritizes: Disaster relief, health, small business and education.
Education relief includes the “Student Kit”. Last October we packed 500 of these kits. The kit includes notebooks, ruler, pencils, sharpener, eraser, colored pencils, crayons and a scissors. Missions Committee is asking you to help pack 750 of these kits on Sunday Oct. 11 in the Narthex.
Donations to offset supply costs of $8 per kit are welcomed. Pre-registration is encouraged, drop in help welcomed.
