ELDER PRAIRIE WORKDAYS

Enjoy learning valuable prairie restoration practices you can apply to your prairie project while volunteering to help NPAT restore this important blackland prairie in beautiful Washington County.

Join us in caring for Elder Prairie at these fall workdays, where we will focus on removing woody debris and invasive plants. We’ll spend the morning clearing areas to support the recovery of native plants and improve habitat for wildlife.

Thank you for helping us restore one of the largest remaining tracts of the Fayette Prairie!

Those who walked with Tim for the spring walk asked to return in the fall.

We say, "YES!"

Tim will take us on a fall walk to observe how a prairie changes seasonally and continue walking along the restoration timeline at the speed of botany.

Our partners at the Coastal Prairie Conservancy (CPC), who lead the Texas Grasslands and Savannas Initiative (TGSI) and the Texas Coastal Prairie Initiative (TCPI), are also dedicated to education. Landowner Workshops

The TPWD programs cover a wide range of important topics that will help you manage wildlife habitats in the prairies, savannahs, and woodlands of the Post Oak Savannah. We encourage you to attend the workshop specific to your county, as the speakers, biologists, and local organizations are tailored to your needs. If you are unable to attend your county’s workshop, you are welcome to join any of the other sessions, where you will still find the information valuable. Eastern Gamagrass Rescue

Construction on I-10 near Columbus will soon clear a significant area of Gamagrass and other native plants. In response, our dedicated team of prairie enthusiasts mobilized to collect and rehome as many plants as possible before the afternoon rains set in.

NPAT Fayette Prairie Chapter members are actively working to preserve the Texas prairie!
