Happy New Year from First Church!

Happy New Year! First Church is stepping into 2026 with hope and excitement for all that’s ahead.

We’re looking forward to a year filled with blessings, growth, and deepening connection—both individually and as a congregation.

Here’s to a meaningful year together!

Our Worship

Together, we pursue knowledge and understanding in our journey as Christians. We joyfully and unconditionally welcome and care for all in our church family and beyond. This section provides news and updates related to our Sunday worship services.

Adult Sunday School

Join us in the AC from 10:00 - 11:00 AM...

  • Jan. 4, next Sunday, there will be no class due to brunch.
  • Jan. 11 we will have a special presentation by Jane Frankenberger that should be very intriguing. Can you talk with Jesus on an AI app?
  • Jan. 18 we will begin our new series, Storytelling as Sacred Work, lead by Diana Hoke.

Inclement Weather Policy

It’s that time of year! In the event of inclement weather:

  • Sundays: Weather updates will be shared on our Facebook page, the WLFI website, and via email through Constant Contact.
  • Weekdays: If Tippecanoe County Schools are closed, assume that the church will also be closed.

Stay safe and connected!

Our Faith

Together, we encourage each other as we explore our faith and enrich our understanding of the word of God through spiritual growth. This section provides news and updates related to our youth and adult programs, music program, and much more.

Chair Yoga is Coming Soon!

Starting January 6 in the AC from 5:45-6:30 PM and continuing on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays thru March, Diane Dahlgren will guide you thru a gentle chair yoga practice. No mat is needed, simply come in comfortable clothes that allow you to move, and arrive between 5:30-5:40 to get your chair set up and settled in.

This yoga practice will increase your body’s strength, balance, & flexibility, open your mind to potential and positivity, and enhance your spiritual connection with God. The classes are free, but if you can we will be asking for “Love Gift” donations each month for one of our church outreach organizations. In January we will be asking for snacks for our Klondike Kids. Suggested offerings are (small bags of chips, individual pkgs. cookies or cheese/crackers), to help fuel those hungry minds while working on their studies.

If you can breathe, you can do yoga!

(Diane is a CYT 200 instructor with several years of experience both teaching and practicing yoga.)

Feed the Kids

Children in our community may qualify for free lunches at school, but that doesn’t help on the weekends. To fill the void, we buy prepackaged food from Food Finders, bag it and deliver it to Edgelea School in Lafayette.

Two sets of volunteers pack the food for 20+ children, then our team of drivers deliver it on Thursdays so the kids can take it home on Fridays.

Our volunteers assemble the packages in our basement. They are Judi, Jane, Terry and Lynne; the Boyers family: Ellie, Hayden and Brendan.

Want to help? To feed one child it costs $7 per week, about $250 per year. Make a gift at church or online by clicking the button below. Under "Funds," select Feed the Kids.

Volunteer to Tutor Klondike Kids

Do you have time after school between 4:30-6:00 PM? Please consider working alongside Purdue education students tutoring Klondike Elementary School kids.

On Mondays and Wednesdays, grades K-3 meet, and on Tuesdays and Thursdays, grades 4-5 gather in the Community Room of the Point West Mobil Home Community in West Lafayette.

Our World

Together, we strive to make the world a better place through service and social action. Our faith is put in action by caring for others. This section provides news and announcements to get involved in our congregation and community.
