It’s that time of year! In the event of inclement weather:

  • Sundays: Weather updates will be shared on our Facebook page, the WLFI website, and via email through Constant Contact.
  • Weekdays: If Tippecanoe County Schools are closed, assume that the church will also be closed.

Stay safe and connected!

Pub Theology Update for 2026

Beginning in 2026, Pub Theology will meet on the first Thursday of each month. This new rhythm is meant to make planning easier, reduce scheduling conflicts, and help more people commit to gathering regularly. Each month, the group will still decide together which local spot to meet at, and there will continue to be opportunities for other informal, impromptu gatherings as they arise.

Pub Theology remains a welcoming space for conversation, connection, and community, and we’re grateful for all who help make it such a meaningful part of First Church life.

Storytelling as Sacred Work – January 18, 25 and February 8,15

Dates: Sunday, January 18, 25 and February 8,15

Time: 10:00-10:45 AM

Location: First Church Activity Center

"To erase those stories, to erase the history of the marginalized and the oppressed, is a blasphemous act, ignoring the call and movement of God in history...To keep these stories alive is to keep the people alive. To keep the people alive is to keep democracy alive. And more than that, it is to keep alive the vision of God for a more just and moral world."

–The Rev. Canon Kelly Brown Douglas, Joy Is Resistance: Storytelling as Sacred Work

Join us in the Activity Center between worship services, 10:00-10:45 AM, for video featuring Rev. Kelly Douglas followed by discussion about the importance of storytelling as a means of preserving both truth as well as the histories of all of God's people. For more information contact Diana Hoke, hokediana@gmail.com.

Feed the Kids

Children in our community may qualify for free lunches at school, but that doesn’t help on the weekends. To fill the void, we buy prepackaged food from Food Finders, bag it and deliver it to Edgelea School.

Two sets of volunteers pack the food for 20+ children, then our team of drivers deliver it on Thursdays so the kids can take it home on Fridays.

Our packing team members are Judi Forsyth, Jane Rutledge, Terry Wade and Lynne White; the Boyers family: Ellie, Hayden and Brendan.

Want to help? To feed one child it costs $7 per week, about $250 per year. Make a gift at church or online by clicking the button below. Under "Funds," select Feed the Kids.

Volunteer to Tutor Klondike Kids

Do you have time after school between 4:30-6:00 PM? Please consider working alongside Purdue education students tutoring Klondike Elementary School kids.

On Mondays and Wednesdays, grades K-3 meet, and on Tuesdays and Thursdays, grades 4-5 gather in the Community Room of the Point West Mobil Home Community in West Lafayette.

Whoever you are,

wherever you are in your spiritual journey,

you are welcome here.
