District 10 News
Brought to you by Councilman Clayton H. Perry
Howdy Neighbors,

Thank you to everyone who attended the Northeast Neighborhood Alliance Meeting on Monday. We were joined by: Rich Acosta - President of My City Is My Home, Alene Lindley - Chair of Community Outreach for the League of Women Voters, and Liza Cruz - Vice President of Communications for Texas Biomed. If you missed the meeting, you may stream it here. Please forgive the delay in audio, as we had minor audio issues at the beginning of the recording.

Early voting ends this Friday, February 25. Election Day is Tuesday, March 1. Please be sure to research each candidate before voting - vote411.org is a fantastic, non-partisan tool to learn more about each candidate.

The redistricting process is underway! We have tapped former Councilmembers John Clamp and Carlton Soules to lead the citizen effort and serve on the committee with the intent to keep District 10 whole. There are two upcoming public Redistricting Committee meetings that will be held in District 10: April 23 at 10 AM at the Tool Yard and May 2 at 6 PM at the Northeast Senior Center. A full schedule of the meetings can be found here.

Do you have ideas for District 10? If so, the District 10 Team would like to attend your next HOA meeting. Please email District10@sanantonio.gov with the date, time, and point of contact to schedule our attendance at your next HOA meeting. I look forward to hearing from you!

We have had a great response to our D10 Community Roadshows and we look forward to continuing this new tradition in 2022. Just reach out to our office and let us know if you’d like for us to set one up for your neighborhood.

As always, thank you for being active community members and leaders here in District 10. Please do not hesitate to contact our office if we may be of any assistance to you. The District 10 team is on hand and available to address your needs and concerns.

- Clayton

Welcome to the team, Sara!
Please join us in welcoming our new Digital Communications Specialist, Sara Rios, to the District 10 team. A Houston native, Sara moved to San Antonio back in 2012 to pursue a bachelor's degree in Business Administration at the University of Incarnate Word. Enamored by the charm of San Antonio she decided to make SA her home upon graduation. Rios served in the United States Army for six years. She spent time working in Doha, Qatar as a contractor for the U.S. Army. In 2021, she completed her Master's degree in Project Management from Liberty University. Sara officially joins us on February 28.
San Antonio Water System is now accepting applications for bill payment relief through the American Rescue Plan Act. Customers that have experienced a pandemic-related financial hardship that’s caused them to fall behind on their SAWS bill, could qualify for up to $700 in federal bill assistance.

To qualify, customers must:
  • Be a SAWS residential customer
  • Live within San Antonio city limits
  • Have an unpaid balance accrued between the period of March 1, 2020 to September 30, 2021.
The application process takes less than five minutes and customers can apply online at saws.org/covid19.

Customers who choose to provide proof of income, could qualify for more than $700 through other need-based assistance programs. Individuals that need assistance completing the application, or have questions about the process, can contact SAWS Customer Service at 210-704-SAWS (7297). Those without internet services can also contact SAWS and a customer service representative can assist them with their application. SAWS Uplift also offers payment assistance for qualifying customers through several different programs. Learn more at saws.org/uplift
