The LOHM celebrated its 5-year Anniversary at The Moxy's Magic Hour Rooftop Bar and Lounge on September 20, 2022. The evening was spent celebrating The LOHM and uplifting our work and EPIC vision to globally End Poverty and InCarceration of women and girls. Our partners, champions, and supporters who have linked arms with us along this journey were also honored. 

On this magical evening, we celebrated numerous drivers behind The LOHM’s EPIC vision and raised $100,000. Throughout the night, many moving stories of perseverance and triumph were shared, like Marta, a Pathways 4 Equity Fellow, who shared her powerful story of how she overcame trauma and incarceration and her journey to where she is now, building rockets for Virgin Orbit. 

“For so long my story was one of sadness – one of sexual abuse and addiction. I didn’t feel like I was worth saving. Society saw me only as a felon, and no one would open doors to me. But I’m a survivor – a survivor of sex trafficking and abuse, and I deserve to be seen,” said Marta. Virgin Orbit and The LOHM saw me – they saw my capabilities, my humanity, my skillset, and they’ve made me feel like I belong.” 

We also heard from our young pioneers, Steven Hoffman and Mary Wood who received the EPIC Y Innovator Award, as they shared their vision, experience, and what inspires them to make social change.
