Physician-Led HIE Effort Growing Nationwide
With over three decades as a professional in health care administration - mostly in program design and implementation - I can painfully attest to learning many lessons “the hard way.” Thankfully there is one lesson that was not hard-learned on my part. This lesson has served me well, saved valuable time and probably the spirits of the talented team members I have managed as well.
What might this lesson be? Simply, it is in my nature to network with innovative organizations whose DNA drives them to identify and share best practices. Typically, these companies have great leadership, stellar teams, an unwavering attentiveness to company core values and extraordinary customer service.
KaMMCO Health Solutions (KHS) is one of these companies. The Medical Association of Georgia (MAG) is excited to deliver Health e Paradigm in partnership with KHS. The Health e Paradigm suite of proven health information technology tools can help health professionals share patient information and employ analytic reports to drive clinical improvement, reduce inefficiencies and positively impact patient safety. MAG was the first to enter into this unique interoperability partnership with KHS. Georgia has now been joined by five additional state medical societies in this physician-led effort to empower physicians and the patients they serve!
I believe MAG and the other participating states working with KHS have found an organization committed to seeking best practices. With our collective and mutual mission of “physician-led and governed”, the time-tested technology platform assembled by KHS will continue to attract medical societies and provider groups across the nation.
myGAHealtheRecords: a Smart Way to Manage Personal Health Care Information
Health e Paradigm reminds members of the online patient portal which provides a secure, one stop site for health care data. my GAHealtheRecords eliminates a patient's need to log into multiple portals, hand-carry their records, or rely on another physician's office sending information via fax.

"Now is the time to take charge of your health care," said Susan W. Moore, Director of Strategic Programs and Initiatives at the Medical Association of Georgia. " my GAHealtheRecords is a smart way for patients to manage medical information. Data from participating providers is in one location-records on medications, allergies, previous illnesses, injuries and more. Access is simple and secure at any time."

Health e Paradigm supports and encourages patient engagement by electronically transmitting medical records available in the health information exchange to patients who have an established my GAHealtheRecords account. Information can be updated, organized and accessed by computer, tablet or smartphone. my GAHealtheRecords is certified by the Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) and meets all of the Meaningful Use and Merit-Based Incentive Payment System Requirements.

Individuals can securely share medical information with trusted health care providers who may have access to full patient records including diagnosis, treatment, lab results, medications, etc., in an effort to deliver the most efficient and thorough care possible. Participants may create an emergency wallet card and access code when, if activated, gives physicians or emergency responders read-only access to critical health information.
