Foothill Science Learning Institute
STEM Micro-Internship Program

Through the Science Learning Institute (SLI), Foothill College students will have an opportunity to engage in an internship either in research or industry, under the guidance of a mentor/supervisor.

Institutions and companies include biotech startups, Stanford University, San Jose State University, and other tech companies in the Bay Area. Please see the Project Catalog for additional information.
SLI has a list of 21 projects (and a few more to come!) for the summer, and these will all be paid part-time internships in STEM disciplines ranging from biology and chem to medicine to engineering to computer science and physics.

The application deadline isn’t until Sunday, April 24th, but If you are interested in applying, please complete an Interest Form. This is just a way for SLI to stay in touch with you. This is not binding - it doesn't mean you are making a commitment. Just share that you are interested.
TLC/WLC Spring Updates and Services - Tutoring Starts This Week!

Make sure you get a head start on your quarter by taking note of the services and availability of tutorial support services on campus and also online.

The Writing and Language Center (WLC), formerly known as the Teaching and Learning Center (TLC), offers tutoring in reading, writing, research, study skills, and conversation support across all subjects. Whether you are working on an essay for an English class or a research assignment for your geography class, tutors are here to help! The WLC will be provide services in more than one modality to make tutoring accessible to all students. Tutoring and workshops online via our LRC Zoom room, and also on campus. Please visit the Writing and Language Center for details about both virtual and on-campus hours.
Guatemala Summer Trip

Expand your college experience by spending a week in Guatemala!

Spend the week volunteering in the mountainous villages of Vuelta Grande and El Hato, where you'll support the school sites and experience what daily life is like in rural Guatemala.

Free time and evenings will be spent in the colonial tourist town of Antigua. Volunteer work on this trip will include school beautification work in Vuelta Grande as well as tutoring and helping in the classroom at a secondary school in Antigua.

Participants must enroll in Foothill's summer 1-unit Econ 54H class. Note: Summer registration begins April 25. Deadline to apply for trip is April 22.

HonorsX: An Interdisciplinary Program Unlike Any Other

UCLA Transfer Alliance Program

If you have received and admission offer by UCLA and want to complete your TAP Certification process, you will need to submit the Honors Scholar petition form in the Spring 2022 quarter. The petition window opens Monday, April 4, 2022 and is  due Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at 11:59 PM (Pacific). Please keep this application window in your calendar and reach out to us with any questions you have at honors@fhda.edu. You can also stop by our Spring Quarter Office Hour on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 1-2.

Honors Student Counseling Report Form
All Honors Institute participants are required to meet with a counselor at least once every quarter to review or develop their educational plan, as well as to discuss any personal, career or academic concerns. Counseling appointments are scheduled for 30 minutes.

After your counseling appointment, please complete the new Counseling Report Form to record your visit and help evaluate your plan towards academic, personal, and professional successes. The Honors Institute will verify your appointment at the end of each quarter. This new reporting process replaces the documentation that counselors needed to complete.
