Honors Winter Workshop: Uplifting The Experiences of First-Generation, BIPOC Honors Students
In the context of COVID and increasing pressures of living in the Bay Area, many first-generation, BIPOC students are doing their best to succeed and thrive in the college context. The Honors Institute is happy to see that more and more of these students are challenging themselves to take honors courses for the first time in spite of these difficulties. This workshop will offer some insights into the mental-health impact that these increasing pressures pose to first-generation, BIPOC students, and students who are taking honors courses for the first time. Join us for a student panel in which students will share their experiences and facilitate dialogue around strategies for success as well as strategies to help maintain mental health.
If you are interested in attending this event on February 9, 2022 from 12-1PM, please register.

Foothill College Research and Service Learning Symposium
The Research and Service Leadership Symposium provides students an opportunity to expand their learning beyond the walls of the classroom (or the confines of the screen), to investigate their world through in-depth research projects, to create and participate in worthwhile service learning activities, including original creative arts projects, and to present their newfound knowledge, insights and experiences to the campus community.
Students will gain experience presenting in a professional conference setting on the virtual campus through presentations, performance, displays and discussion.
The Symposium itself is the culminating event of these student projects. The event includes
- A full day and evening of presentations, peer discussion forums, art galleries, and creative performances.
- Awards ceremony, keynote speaker and closing celebration.
For more information and support in the process of participating in this wonderful opportunity, check out the RSLS Workshops coming up this month!

Honors Student Counseling Report Form
|
|
All Honors Institute participants are required to meet with a counselor at least once every quarter to review or develop their educational plan, as well as to discuss any personal, career or academic concerns. Counseling appointments are scheduled for 30 minutes.
After your counseling appointment, please complete the new Counseling Report Form to record your visit and help evaluate your plan towards academic, personal, and professional successes. The Honors Institute will verify your appointment at the end of each quarter. This new reporting process replaces the documentation that counselors needed to complete.
