Honors Institute Workshop - How to Understand and Handle Stress We are fast approaching the mid-quarter and stress is no doubt on many minds as midterms approach.If you're feeling that stress, we invite you to join us for our next Honors Institute Workshop. Workshop Description: How do we glide through a world saturated with distress? On campus Dr. Clifton Der Bing from Psychological Services and Personal Counseling, will offer a workshop that focuses on the various forms of stress, how the body and mind are affected by them, and ways we can cope through life challenges. UCLA TAP Workshop- Preparing your Fall 2020 Transfer Application Join us to learn more about how to prepare your fall 2020 transfer application to UCLA and to learn more about how TAP works. Where? Community Campus Involvement and Participation Opportunities:

Native American Heritage Month Events- Lecture Series If you have not yet done so, consider attending the Foothill College's Heritage Month events. This Thursday, the NHM lecture series brings you the inspiring story of Maria Azhunova, founder and Director of the Baikal Buryat Center for Indigenous Cultures (Siberia). From Siberia to the Navajo Nation to Foothill College to her recently-completed MA in Conservation Policy from Cambridge University -- with a PhD coming up next -- Maria's epic educational journey has been astounding. Recently she has emerged as one of Siberia's leading voices for biological and cultural conservation. This can be dangerous work. Her current focus ranges from protecting endangered species such as snow leopards to preserving the indigenous knowledge of her native culture's shamans and matriarchal leaders. Immediately after her twin lectures here at FH she'll be leaving for meetings with conservation and anthropology faculty at Stanford.  When? November 7 9-9:50am and again at 10-10:50am Where? Workforce Wednesday: Speed Networking Event The event will be on November 13 from noon to 1pm . Workforce Development will have 20 members of the community who work at a variety of businesses and companies who will be available to chat with you about their careers and listen to you chat about your goals. This is an interactive session - please come prepared with an idea of what you would say to someone about your career goals. You will speak with at minimum 6 members of the community.  This is a highly curated experience, therefore sign ups ahead of time are necessary since there are only 20 spaces available. The Honors Connection- Club

The Honors Connection Club invites you to meet with them this and every Thursday in room 6301 from 12:30-1:30pm. There will be pizza, but more importantly, you will have the opportunity to connect with other, like-minded students who may have similar goals and career dreams. Please read the club's Mission Statement below to get a better understanding about what they do and why they exist: The purpose of the Honors Connection Club is to connect like-minded individuals to other Honors/Non-Honors’ students who may have similar goals and/or career focus. By organizing events, taking on leadership roles, volunteering in the community, and listening to each other we are creating a school culture which any student can identify with. We believe that by having fun, motivating each other and being a support system for one another; we can all be successful. If you are interested in this club, please share your interest by filling out this brief form about yourself and the best times you can meet.
