IRF Caribbean Congress Heralds Strengthened Regional Cooperation


The 10th IRF Caribbean Regional Congress closed on Friday, June 10 with calls for the immediate formation of a permanent cooperation platform for road and mobility professionals led by IRF Global. The Congress was an exceptionally successful gathering of more than 250 professionals from 32 countries, including 11 Ministers of Transport, around the twin regional challenges of road safety and climate-resilient infrastructure.

The Malaysian Ministry of Works, Highway Authority and Road Engineering Association are joining forces with the IRF to deliver the 4th IRF Asia-Pacific Regional Congress on October 11-13, 2022. The Congress will focus on the future of road infrastructure, resilience, sustainability, road safety and new digital technologies that will transform the region’s roads and mobility services.

IRF World Meeting & Exhibition Proceedings now Available    


"Advances in Road Infrastructure & Mobility", the scientific proceedings of the 18th IRF World Meeting & Exhibition, is now available through the Springer Publishing portal. The publication comprises 86 papers presenting innovative research and case studies in road materials, asset inspection, traffic planning, road safety and advanced road mobility, among others. The 18th IRF World Meeting & Exhibition was held November 7-10 2022 in Dubai, drawing over 2,500 participants from 50 countries.

IRF Global & UNITAR Road Safety Partnership Enters new Phase


Following a series of successful online Master Classes held for regional audiences in Latin America, Sub-Saharan Africa & Asia-Pacific in 2020 & 2021, IRF and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) delivered a first in-person course titled “Management Practices for Safer Roads” aimed at operationalizing the UNITAR Road Safety Toolkit. The workshop was attended by more than 60 Caribbean road professionals. 

IRF & XenomatiX Present Next Generation Road Scanning Systems

 

IRF Global concluded a global benchmarking course on preventive management of road assets with a field overview of next-generation road scanning & survey systems hosted by XenomatiX, a pioneer in road LIDAR technology. The presentations included a live test drive in a demonstration vehicle followed by an overview of the company’s flagship GIS system RoadViewer, a user-friendly “digital twin” application.

New IRF Course: Roadway Workzone Safety


IRF’s in-person, interactive training workshop offers a one-stop learning environment for highway agency executives, risk managers, occupational safety & health professionals, and private sector contractors interested in improving safety at road work zones. The main topics of the workshop include funding, contracts, and authority for work zones; roadway work zone elements and components; training for workers and supervisors; planning and implementation of work zones; maintenance and demobilization of work zones; preventing struck-by and runover/backover incidents; and safety for workers and the public

Global Road Achievement Award Winner Profile


The opening of the majestic 1915 Canakkale Bridge on March 18, 2022, well ahead of its initial schedule, hat set new records for Turkey and international bridge engineering. After Istanbul's three bridges over the Bosphorus Strait, Turkey now boasts a fourth bridge connecting Europe and Asia, and the first to span the Dardanelles Strait.

IRF Workshops Draw Record Audience at Intertraffic Amsterdam

 

IRF partnered once again with Intertraffic in delivering summit sessions & interactive workshops available to the 25,000 visitors who attended this year’s trade fair in Amsterdam on March 29 – April 1. Delegates explored cutting edge topics ranging from “AI for safer road mobility” to “Digital Twins & the Power of Predictive Maintenance” and took part in various workshops led by IRF taskforces.
