How is it that we are currently in the middle of October?!?! In some ways, this year has felt like a decade per month and in other ways, it's flying by in the blink of an eye. We're doing our best to enjoy the ride however fast it passes by. At least with it being Halloween month and all, masks are in season. Stay safe and enjoy the beautiful October weather.
FROM THE BILGE
Hard to believe that so many months have passed since my last “bilgy” installment. While I have not been in the bilge this whole time, for sure it feels like I have been in the trenches…if there is such a thing on a boat.
Although life for all of us has been far from ordinary, lately there have been more opportunities to enjoy a few, precious moments of normalcy, such as being on the water with family and friends. A couple of weeks ago during one of those hot Indian summer days (can I still say that?) we were invited to go on a picnic aboard motor vessel Long Run. We headed over to Angel Island and luckily found an open mooring at Ayala Cove. Read more

A very interesting TED talk with Tracy Edwards. We love this... "Stop being a bystander in your own life!"
SAILING FOR A GOOD CAUSE
KKMI had the pleasure of meeting Elana back in May of 2019. After leaving the Bay and heading south, she is on embarking on some sailing for a great cause.
Former foster youth, Elana Connor (AKA Peregrina Sails), is solo [or singlehandedly - with her dog] sailing a figure 8 voyage around Aotearoa New Zealand to raise funds for VOYCE – Whakarongo Mai. These funds will help create a new scholarship program for foster care youth to attend the 10-day youth development journeys aboard the Spirit of New Zealand tall ship. Learn more.
BERNARD & MAEVE HEADED TOWARDS WARMER CLIMES
We've been enjoying being a stowaway on the good ship Honu. It's been a pleasure following their progress down the coast.
If you'd like to follow along on their journey, you can visit their blog here.
DISPOSE OF EXPIRED FLARES THIS WEEKEND
Thanks for this info from the folks at Latitude 38.
If you keep your boat in Alameda County, be sure to make an appointment to properly dispose of your expired flares.
If you're going to be visiting a Kyard for service or parts, please review our protocols and be aware that we are requiring facial coverings and social distancing at both of our facilities. And if possible, consider phoning or emailing rather than visiting in person.

CONGRATULATIONS TO PETE PETERSON!
Here's Pete's wife, Jan and sister, Elly, aboard their Island Packet 420, Jupiter, enjoying a lovely quiet anchorage in the Delta.
It was a big birthday month for our Point Richmond office staff. We celebrated Michelle and Kam this month.
A princess cake for our number one princess!
Rest assured, Kam took the candle off the cake before blowing it out.
During hot spells, we love to cool things off with some popsicles. It always livens up the yard.
