KNEWSLETTER Vol. 18

Time flies as it May... the month is already coming to a close. This coming weekend is Memorial Day weekend, setting us on a straight course for summer. We're looking forward to the explosion of warmer inland temps and blustery bay breezes.

We're here to make sure your boat is ship shape! Give us a shout to schedule that last minute project.
In honor of Memorial Day, "THANK YOU" to all who have given their lives for our freedom.

FROM THE BILGE
by Paul Kaplan

That moment you realize... the Bay Area's best equipped rig shop is also your favorite boat yard. Mind = blown.
KKMI can confidently say that we have the best equipped rig shop on the Bay. It's true! We have all the equipment, all the inventory, all the safety protocols, and all the know-how to care for the backbone of your sailboat's performance... And we can do this while you're getting your bottom painted, your thru hulls checked, or your engine serviced at your favorite boat yard!

WHAT WE ARE READING
Fuel Systems - What Grows in the Darkness of Diesel
p. 36 By Nigel Calder
Professional Boatbuilder, April/May 2018
Calder, widely known for his essential DIY mechanical and electrical manuals, is back with another instructive editorial in the most recent issue of Professional Boatbuilder. This time, the subject matter explores your diesel fuel tank and the fouling that can occur with the advent of ULSD (Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel) fuel.

GOOD TO KNOW
If you're the superstitious type, here's a good read to avoid unintended consequences on your boat.

Top 20 Sailing Superstitions...
Number 15 is funny for the San Francisco Bay, "HAT OVERBOARD" is pretty much par for the course around here. Some are new, some we've heard, all are entertaining.

CHECKING IN ON RANDALL REEVES

Randall is finding ways to entertain himself as he threads his way back home. He's still got a ways to go, but he's making some sailing progress after some motoring days.

WE'RE HIRING!
We are so proud of the people who work here - being a family-run business, we embrace the family vibe. If you know someone who would be a good fit in our team of craftspeople, we would love the opportunity to meet with them.

We currently have an opening for a Marine Electrician/Electronics expert.
If you have or have had a boat and are not intimidated to peak behind the "curtain" of the electrical panel - this may be the job for you.
If you or someone you know fits that bill, please send them our way!

We are also looking down the road for a woodworking apprentice. If you're interested in woodworking and have some experience in that area, give us a holler and let's talk!
