KNEWSLETTER Vol. 20

September is coming in hot... well, not temperature wise, but you know what we mean. If you're on social media, your feed is probably peppered with sweet photos of kids on the first day of school or heading off to college. For us at the boatyard, the tempo picks up around here as teams gear up for the Rolex Big Boat Series.

We hope you're enjoying the season, whatever it brings for you. And remember:  Whether the weather is cold, or whether the weather is hot, we'll fix your boat whatever the weather, whether it was your fault or not.

We hope to see you on the water or at one of the Kyards!
FROM THE BILGE
by Paul Kaplan

What's it like to own and operate a boatyard? From time to time I'm asked this question, which can be answered in two ways: as a sound bite like, "A giggle a minute," or as a lengthy reply that sounds more like a dissertation than an actual answer. In Jim Lynch's novel Before the Wind, he writes,  "Running a boatyard is like working in a dementia clinic...We commiserate with comforting nods and winces. We play cameos in daydreams and delusions."   Read more.

RANDALL REEVES IN THE HOUSE!

It's so nice to see Randall's face around the Kyard, even if it is behind a mask.

For those of you that are envious and would also like to sand the bottom of your boat....please note KKMI allowed Randall this "opportunity" only because the bottom paint on his boat is copper free. Under most circumstances, this is not an acceptable activity for owners to undertake....but you can always live vicariously through Randall.

KKMI SIGHTINGS

Speaking of back to school... this little land and sea lubber spent the night on the boat before heading back to school.

Chain, chain, chain - a clever way to count your scope.

These two love to ham it up for the camera...

But rest assured, they get down to business...

And when they do, they do amazing work.

Carranza is all smiles!

This boat had some serious damage. Look at that beautiful new paint job!

Peace out!
